I caved, too. I had my reservations, trust me. Caused by being fed up with Facebook and MySpace being overbaringly annoying and over-coded. I used to call Twitter "Twatter." Yeah.

Believe it or not, Twitter, although basically just a rip off of Facebook's "Status" bar, is refreshingly simple. I'll explain:

I can easily follow the musings of several people I find to be the reason I still laugh period. Tim & Eric are surprisingly active, as well as the hilarious Doug Lussenhop, the man responsible for most of their CRAZY "faux-botch" editing and music as well as a number of other funny acts/groups/websites (Thunderant, etc.). The Onion's postings are generally funnier than actually going out of my way to visit their site. The NHLBlackhawks spokestweeter is not only funny, but also, throughout the Western Conference Playoffs, was giving away sets of extremely hard to get tix by means of winning little high odds Twitter post contests. (i.e. "In 140 characters or less, who would play the Blackhawks in a movie entitled One Goal: Battle for the Stanley Cup") I came close!

Following the few celebrities I follow on Twitter is also a lot of fun because Twitter makes them more approachable than some lame follow-all on Facebook or MySpace where they have 489,087 "friends." The numbers of "followers" on Twitter are generally lower (although I know that will only steadily grow if Twitter becomes more popular).

Since I love to laugh (and make people laugh), Twitter has been an awesome outlet for one-liners throughout the day. A warning to the wise, though - I've unfollowed a couple of people (people I know) for using Twitter in the opposite way. Some people like to use their 140 character status updates to BRING YOU DOWN. Such was the incredible waste of my life force following a friend who moved out to L.A. to become a movie director *slap*.

It's just really simple, and not all that extra bull shit you don't care about like on other social networking sites. I follow about 8 friends and some funny one-liner wizards, and that makes me a satisfied member.

Twitter seems to be capping in its demographic, too. They're retention rate is low... but new users are constantly signing up. Which could either mean a good thing or a bad thing for them in the long run. They could turn out like Facebook and MySpace, but, so far, they've been keeping it pretty simplistic.

I'll be following you, flow.

My userID is DaggerByte, if anyone wants to follow, too.

EDIT: If you follow me, a bonus (?) is that you'll get to know my real name... which might already have been uttered in the past around here somewhere... Not sure.
