Transition to Inactivity

I am somewhat curious as to other's opinions or experiences on the transition from an active member of the community to a more inactive role. I know that several others have made the switch at some point for their own reasons (on this forum or on another one), so I wanted some perspective.

its based on a few factors for me

1. lack of interesting topics. this is, of course, subjective, but if im not interested, i dont exactly feel that desire to contribute

2. not feeling like i can contribute. this goes hand in hand with the first one, but if my point was already made by someone else, or i really dont have anything to say on the subject (usually due to a lack of meaningful knowledge on the subject), ill just sit and observe

3. parents blocking this site on the home computer. it really sucks

I guess I can't tell the reasons for total inactivity considering how much I post, but I go through lapses of more activity and less activity anyway. Here are some reasons that made me less active.

1. Trolls. If they end up infiltrating every corner of the forum like Face did, I don't post nearly as much. I just don't like the atmosphere.

2. Sometimes there are periods of time when I have something to say, but it's recently been said by someone else already.

3. If I'm busy with other things irl.

4. Sometimes the interesting topics are lacking. But they always come back soon.

I have two or more day periods when I just don't feel like posting. It usually takes something peaking my interest and once that happens, I'll post 5-10 messages at a time. Sometimes there just isn't anything interesting to me, it may just be me in a down period or it may be that nothing much interesting is going on. Can you tell I'm in that state right now? It's the only reason I'm answering, I don't feel like it and am forcing it.

I go back and forth. Once I get sick of a place I find something else. Then when I'm done with that I come back or maybe not... Depends. I tend to have dedicated 'stays' then go MIA.
