If you could inhabit any time in Earth's history and be anyone (famous or otherwise), anywhere... who/when/where would you be? Why?

I'd live in the same time as a wealthier version of me.... In Daytona, Florida.

I liked Daytona Beach a LOT when I went there one time with my dad and brothers.
And I want to go to college there at Full Sail.

Of, course I'd have to have my family and gf there, as well.
Or else I would be extremely depressed.

Sorry I was being closed minded. I take that back. I want to be me, now, but a few years older, in art school, working a part time job as a session guitarist, with a cool modern apartment with cement floors and high ceilings. Probably in Seattle or Richmond or something.

It would be the year the rocky horror picture show was released.
"It's just a jump to the left,
And then a step to the right,
with your hands on your hips,
and bend your knees in tight,
well it's a pelvic thrust,
it really drives me insane,
let's do the time warp again."
Or when buddah walked the earth.

This is exactly where I was going to go with my answer.

Way south.
Id like to be someone in the distant future (was that allowed?), one of the things that always bothered me the most about dieing is not being able to see all the awesome and weird things humanity will be up to in some hundreds of years from now (asuming we will survive).

I understand why, but you don't mind being occupied by the Romans, in a desert, disease ridden place, loaded with hypocrisy with Judaism starting to go down the tubes?

One of the 'lives' I'd choose would belong to a time in pre-history. Before surviving records were begun, when oral histories, mythologies and star-based stories were forming round the tribal fires. I would want to span many lives and lifetimes to observe how cultures and language were forming and how the immediacy of nature interacted with and shaped the emerging wisdom of man.

At the other end, I would like to be present as a voyager when star-travel becomes a reality. I want to go out into space as a pioneer and see up close those stars that inspired us in our cradle. I want to 'return' to the cosmological logos.

I'd go back to June 12, 1864 and tell my great grandfather NOT to volunteer for picket post duty at Barker's Mill, Va. (Got snapped up by a Confederate "seine" operation and spent the next six months at Andersonville.)

It's a whole new sensation,
IT'S LIKE YOU'RE UNDER SEDATION!
Let's do the time warp

AGAIN!

Sometime in the future, at the peak, the pinnicle, the tip, the zennith, of humanity.

I'm completely happy with my current circumstances.

I would however, like to see (ie. just be a visitor for awhile) two things:
  1. What he said:
Sometime in the future, at the peak, the pinnicle, the tip, the zennith, of humanity.
  2. Rome at it's apex.
This is the single most exciting time you could possibly choose to live in. We get to watch as the internet shapes politics, scientific development, and social structure. We get to see humans walk on another planet. Maybe see nuclear war, and, possibly, we are the generation and destroys the world.

Everything humans have worked so hard for has come together in one giant technological explosion. Up until now not just anybody had the knowledge or means to cause mass murder or manipulation on epic scales. Now they do.
Great knowledge brings great power. As it stands, anyone can hop on over to wikipedia and acquire massive amounts of what used to be banned information, and then use that knowledge in any way they please.

Our generation is going to have a whole lot of exciting/scary junk to deal with.
