Do you manage your time well? What do you spend most of your time doing?

I usually end up feeling guilty on what i spend my time doing, I'm in a consistent struggle to devote more time to learning and less on other things.

Ah, time management, one of my favourite topics.

I used to be, and still am, rather scatter brained. Given free reign, papers will take over the floor, books will be stacked and my computer recently complained that it's close to full.

I do try and herd everything into one corner. Sometimes it fits into an intray, mostly not though :o
I also write everything down i want to do. Books to read, stuff to learn, places to see, letters to write, people to call. Quite literally everything.
It doesn't actually help avoid any of the procrastinating and sidetracked surfing and reading, but at least when i do 'wake up' and remember i have stuff to do, i am not fishing all over the floor for it :)
I am lucky that i don't mind being at home all the time, so i have plenty of time to chase rabbit trails. I really ought to carve out a few hours a day for uni though....

I too am scatter brained. I have dozens of half finished songs or half finished art projects. Aha! Yes i do that to, but not to that great of an extent. It's strange that i do that because I'm really not organized. Once school starts I'll be back on track.

I sympathize very strongly with this. This was never a problem for me when I was younger...I often think that high school messed this up for me.:(

Does this have something to do with the INTP personality? I'd be even more interested to hear from someone who DOESN'T have this problem...

Time Management.

The purpose of *Time Management* is to provide a box on an employee evaluation form that is checked off by a supervisor a moment after the *People Skills* box is checked. ;)

Yes, i agree. Whenever I decide on something that could be a characteristic of an INTP i would like to rule out the majority of other types.

This is quite literally the bane of my existance. My complete failure at conquering time management haunts me every waking hour. I never feel like I am doing exactly what I should be doing to most efficiently utilize my time. Because I work in a deadline driven business, I understand the importance of time management. I do get to appointments on time ALWAYS and I meet all my deadlines...but in between those two hard lines I am a complete waste.

I really want to improve this about myself.

Time management...if only I could do that effectively. Sadly, I always get sidetracked whenever I'm doing something and say, "eh, that won't take too long...I still have a week left...", which turns into "eh, I still have a couple of days left..." which turns into me staying up very late the night before schoolwork is due :p.

The problem is, it's learning new stuff that always gets me sidetracked - the stuff I'm learning just isn't relevant to the topic at hand (I blame wikipedia and tvtropes!)

I'm horrible at time management. I not only have a habit of procrastination, but I have a serious love/hate relationship with structure, to do lists, and other time management devices. They help me a lot, but I hate to use them.

One of my friends (ISFJ) had a suggestion towards the end of getting work done. You spend 2 hours doing whatever you please, and afterwards spend the rest of your allotted time doing work.

.... at 5:30 AM I was somehow trapped in the classic hardcore-P scramble. :(

On a related topic, has anyone here ever completed a thesis? The reason I'm asking is that I'm about to start a Masters of International Business which requires you to write a 30,000 word thesis and throughout my undergraduate I ended up handing most of my essays in 2 weeks late and done the night before. Any survival tips would be much appreciated
