I am in middle school. Today in my math class (we are only just finishing pre-algebra, x6+3=15...ugh) a couple of kids were arguing about some sort of bodily function like farting or burping or some crap like that. That alone makes me sad because these are people my age (shudder). Anyways, they were arguing and one of them actually had a point (I do not remember exactly what he said). That is when the other guy says "Why do you always have to think so much!" and he proceded to rub his temples. He was completely serious. This same boy is currently failing math, and the one he was arguing with is an ESFP (I think).

That is what makes me sad/dissapointed/depressed/annoyed...

Look at it another way, you're evolutionarily entitled to abuse their stupidity.

Just don't forget there's always people out there who are smarter than you.

And I'm evolutionarily entitled to shake my head in disgust at the notion of evolutionary entitlement as a social mechanism.

To OP, I have moments like this, I'm in middle school as well, and I was talking about some random philosophical (if that's the right word) about how our vocabulary is relative (sort of based on the quote by a famous philosopher "if a lion could talk we would not understand it") anyways, I was completely serious on it, I was telling some of these girls, who are eh, acquaintances, and one actually said "It's funny how she keeps going on without realizing I don't give a crap about her opinions" another said "oh just ignore her she's getting all philosophical" the other nothing, but I was angered by this. But what could I do in a situation like that? Take them by the hair and fling them across the classroom? Really? I suppose you just have to shrug off their ignorance. :storks: (Or create some sort of device that freezes time, get a book hit them in the head a few times, and see what happens from there...

did you talk to the kid and let him know that you thought he had a good point, afterwards?

He might have appreciated knowing that not everyone thinks that his thinking is an annoyance.

I wasn't being serious, but this looks like it'll be fun.

As a rule of thumb I don't bother resiting the will of people I recognise as being more intelligent than myself, because if they really are then either I go along with their plans willingly and perhaps gain some measure of value to them, or I resist, end up being manipulated and suffer for my egotistical desire to be difficult for its own sake.

If someone's smarter than me, why shouldn't I trust their judgement, after all regardless of what form it take, power has an uncanny way of turning on those who abuse it.

Likewise what non-ego-related reason is there for someone less intelligent than myself to make life harder for me by being uncooperative? Of course many do so anyway because they’re slaves to their hindbrain (the seat of the ego and pack/tribal mentalities) and well I just fail to see why I have any moral obligation to treat them better than I expect myself to be treated, if anything I choose not to insult them with pity they don’t deserve.

But you're still going to make your case right?

Don't tease me with the prospect of a good debate, that's really cruel.

Short version: evolution doesn't judge. Just because, say, men evolved to be promiscuous does not mean that they should in society. And so forth. Thus the notion of "evolutionary entitlement" is somewhat laughable.

Nor does it mean they should not be.

Just think, without them everyone else would have to do those jobs.

I don't really see what the problem is if people are content with the way they are. It's like people believing in religions... If it makes them happy, then great! I have no problem with that. I only have a problem when they become patronising towards me for not joining in with them.

Sometimes I envy people who settle down and are quite happy where they are. At other times I don't even think about it.

I have no problem with people enjoying their own lives privately but these people can vote, which affects me.

I forgot about the political side of things. It doesn't affect me at this moment in time.

Well, I suppose you could move to another country :D

Yeah, it's not a big problem, just a pet peeve of mine.

The city I live in is rated as the 8th most livable city in the world by the Economist and does well in other ratings so I shouldn't complain.

@fullerene. I did tell (let's just say kid B) kid B that he had a point. Then again, the class I was in has 8 people and the guy (INTJ) that I was talking to at the time was listening also. I said to INTJ that kid B had a good point. So I think that he overheard me talking to INTJ. Then we started to talk about how it is sad.

You have no idea. This is why, over time, I tend to keep such ideas to myself.

That is not what makes me upset. It makes me upset that the one boy can not even think at that low level, or that he does not want to think that much (or little).

where i have been put
maybe they don't care for maths, i know they can be....well, idiots but seriously i am not a 'stupid' person and i think a lot, and i really care for intellectuality but, i don't give a shit about Maths. i love nothing more than a philosophical debate and deep, critical thinking but i would honestly rather talk about farts/burps than even considering doing mathematics. the way i see it, so what if it is the 'Universal Language' if there is no poetry in it?

but meh, i am INFP, feel free to burn me alive

Yeah, but you know what sucks as well? That guy will be getting a girl before you do, or should as trend dictates he will. Thinking isn't exactly an attractive trait, we are bad with judgments based on feeling.

I constantly find myself trying to make logic out of what these idiots say and I end up chasing irregularities in their logic that won't even matter to them.
