Zombies, werewolves, whatever. If it'll get rid of fire ants I'm all for it.

There is also a fungus that can grow on ants and modify its behavior. The infected ant will climb up on a plant with leaves over a trail used by the ants and then lock its mandibles into the leaf. Then it just hangs there dying and becoming a fungal fruiting body to rain spores down on other ants.

Pod-ants.

These zombies have been around forever, right? What's the new worry?

Although, it would be creepy as hell if there were a species that did this sort of thing to us. You can bet we'd try to exterminate it with prejudice...

Apparently there are some species of endoparasite that live in the human brain and can affect behaviour to some degree... but if they were purposely affecting society, how would we know?

This makes me want to be an entomologist. Insects are the coolest! Why do I have to suck at science? (or more precisely, math) Boo hoo wah wah!

Well, Lynx-y, they hate you back! And some of them you can't run away from, especially spiders, because they aren't insects! They is arthropods!

Yeah, Felan. I took an Insects, Science, and Society class in college and it was one of my favorite classes. I could talk to somebody. I read a thing online and it said make sure you focus on math and science. My focus: English and film.

I didn't say you were going against me. I was just saying they hate you. Insects are like that. They can be bastards. Unlike me. You go right ahead and be freaked out.... pussy. ;)

It's the only reason why I regulary keep my room relativly clean, to keep spiders away from my bed.

It's just like how some people are afraid of snakes, I'm not afraid of snakes but I am afraid of spiders.

Perhaps because I have took the time to educate myself about snakes and not spiders. Also I have never been confronted by a threatening snake, which may be another reason I don't fear snakes so much.

Yes, but not near where I sleep.

Daddy Longlegs are the most tolorable spider, bug, insect I am of.

I Vow spiders will never force me to sleep on the couch again.

I can tolerate the web-based spiders ... the prowlers though make my skin creep.

I think mostly it has to do with an episode of sleep paralysis I had as a kid. I woke to the utter sensation of spiders swarming over my body under the covers but I was paralyzed and even unable to scream. I don't know how long I laid there silently screaming but my father must have heard something because he came and investigated.
