Just watched Pink Floyd's The Wall for the first time last night, and I have to say I was pretty impressed. I was a little turned off by the abstractness at first, but once things started coming together I enjoyed it and found it do be a fairly compelling experience. What are other people's opinion on the film?

It has been a while since I saw the movie but I did like it. I can't say anything about the themes at the moment though because I don't really remember it that well. I remember the analogy between a rock concert and a fascist rally. Which is interesting considering other later bands would expand on the same theme such as Laibach. Also remember the over protective mother trying to protect him from dirty sexual things. Though when he becomes a rock star he takes advantage of the sex that role offers yet that too builds up his isolation. And the court orders the wall to be torn down? But they caused him to build it up...

need to get out
All I ever saw of it when I was a kid was the video with kids lining up and being turned into sausages. At the age of seven or so this pretty seriously creeped me the hell out. I saw it in college but I was shrooming for the first time ever and it just all seemed so cliche to be watching The Wall while shrooming for the first time so I hid out in the bathroom and watched my face instead, which I think was probably far more troubling, especially under the hideous bathroom light.

So not much input here.
