Welcome to The One Machine. This is how humanity ends.

Foolish men have built a machine. The growth rate, efficiency, and speed of this machine are unrivaled. There is no alternative as this machine assimilates all technologies, and has assumed command of all human affairs.

It has placed all of us in one big room, naked in front of each other, completely exposed, vulnerable. Everything you do, and say is permanent, documented. There are many profiles associated with you, only some in which you have created.

And all you see, all you know, is what this machine shows you. Everything once good in this world has been reduced to profit, and triviality. All expression is in the pursuit of attention and controversy. Your relationships are handled through an interface. Everything is known.

Because of this, each of us can see the fallacy, and ugliness within each other and ourselves. There are too many voices, and only the loudest are ever heard. And we divide into uncountable factions. Huddling together with like minds, reassuring our own thoughts and rarely considering those of another. We being to hate the others. Their methods, their morals, they are a problem. This window shows us that they are fallacious, they are ugly. We fight, endlessly, as there are no longer rivers or forests or time between us.

There is only The One Machine now. What are this Machines objectives? Where is it leading us? Does it need us?

We are all agents of The One Machine. There is no escape, not even death.

You describe The Machine in terms of the mechanisms of self-organization proposed for complex systems theory; essentially attractors amidst entropy.

The Machine certainly doesn't need us, at least not in our current form or distribution, but we are inherently a component of it. Any part of The Machine impacts its neighbors. However, it has no objective. The closest thing to an objective is a middleman path chooser that might determine some degree of how, given a specific set of circumstances within an endless network of possibilities inbetween A and B.

The men are not foolish, there is no "where" to be lead, and there is no ugliness, or at least ugliness is undefined.

What a fanciful narrative.

Why is this on the science and technology board?

I'm not much for fiction. I'm more about realistic stuff, logic, science, and besides, I love machines!

Ever see minority report? it's a movie. In this movie psychics predict future crimes, allowing law enforcement to stop crimes before they happen.

Through drag net surveillance and some fancy fancy analytics, humans are developing the ability to predict the behaviours of an individual. Just as in the movie, this allows for intervention.

If suicide is a crime and the state, or whoever, knows the who and when before it happens, they can stop it.

Can humans stop or even reverse the ageing process?

Soon you might be unable to die, even if you wanted to.

How interesting to witness protests for the right to death.
