So apparently there's this medieval fair thing that goes on sometimes and it partially involves people in homemade armour bashing the living shit out of each other with sword like sticks, sounds like fun, got introduced to a guy who knows all about it just this evening.
Seems that's what I'll be doing this May, maybe even participating.
Getting to make my own arms and armour intrigues me, the weapons are tape covered sticks (thick sticks it sounds like; probably like broom handles) and there's no jabbing allowed, so basically it sounds like medium sticks, long sticks and very long +10ft sticks, plush shields, I wonder what the rules are with shield bashing...
The best idea I've come up with thus far is a long tower shield which can be handled with either arm, with dual scabbards inside, so I can duck behind it, swapping the shield and weapon arms in one smooth motion and pop out the other side, hopefully taking my opponent off guard.
Or if I can bash with the edge of a shield I'll make two forearm shields and essentially punch my way to victory, not that it's likely, but anyway.
Then there's Nightmare from Soul Calibre, I'm not a small guy and I can bulk up by May, then have a big ass sword in my right hand, a three fingered armoured fist on my left, I can do some things with springs and mechanical leverage that'll make punch and squeeze power significantly stronger, again this is very unlikely to work.
