Having transited to the wondrous new smilies, suggested by Anthile from this site,
http://www.greensmilies.com/smilie-album/

members can here paste additional smilies from there they would like added.

Or from other sites.

Don't go nuts, though.

I never go nuts!

...Does anyone else find their advanced posting interface somewhat bogged down since the addition of the new smilies?

Maybe it was because they weren't cached yet, or the implementing wasn't done - but I thought I would mention it, in case anyone else has trouble, too.

This is from another forum, but I'd really like it over here (so I can stop importing it over here through img tags

It does look unwieldy. Partly cos the Hoplites one forces the first vertical line out of juncture with it's fellows. I had assumed that the 'More' button would appear after a certain number, so far not --- and searching 'smilies more button vbulletin' really gets one an awful lot of vbulletin run fora, as does any search specifying vbulletin, but very little pertinent information. [ I suspect Google Search will implode one day and only offer links of stuff for sale specifically tailored to your past browsing history ].

I'll see if putting new smilies in separate categories helps: that's about the limit of the Smilie Manager's powers, since uploading a smilie is trivial.

UPDATE

Most of the above are now in. 11 so far.

EDIT:

And more the 'More' button has deigned to appeared, though so faintly in this style... [ The Hoplites are there, moved slightly to make the initial tray simpler. ]

What's more, in Firefox it opens a mini-window rather than Ajaxly expanding the box. You have to take what one can get...

Around 50 more of the little fellows were added yesterday. The main trouble is, as above, that --- certainly upon the forum default of Dark Castle { rather stripped from the original style, and which style has not been revised by it's - excellent - author } --- the 'Smilies More' java link at the top of the main Smilies box is nearly invisible, being white/pale buff on a linen-coloured background.

If this can be changed through CSS or something, it may be changed. But don't hold your breath.

Ragnar, thank you for the addition. It's a pretty cool lot!

...I have two requests ... on the off chance you feel like doing more forum work... :p

Is there any chance we can get a bigger package of religious symbol emoticons (like we have the Yin-Yang now...) I feel like those could be useful sooner or later...

And two, is it worth the effort to move all of the bigger, animated emoticons out of the standard package of 25 that shows up on every screen? I expect people on connections slower than mine would appreciate it.

*Edit: I also just discovered some smileys (like the matrix one) have their names double-tagged with earlier ones (the Mittao Wasserman...)

* * * * *

Oh ahm... :o P.S. Five Hundred Posts...

Certainly, provided that someone more spiritual than myself can find some.

I would doubt this, since the only large smilies are the Bats, the Elephant, the Storks and the Regal Twitter-Bird, and of those only the elephant and the storks are more than 2KB, being 3KB and 4KB respectively.

I used the multiple uplift tool. Evidently like much of vbull's idiosyncratic applications, it has flaws... I'll check them out.

The Add Multiple Smilies tool, whilst saving on individual honing of each masterpiece truncates the replacement text and fails to add the closing colon, leading to those with the same beginning structure being identical.

Of course this may be obviated by initially renaming each smilie, I suppose. In which case it would be quicker to just add each damn one separately...

Certainly.

Not knowing what he represents, I gave the name Balancer and the text to type as : balance : [ close spaces ]. But that can be changed on request.

Lol wtf, Cobra.
The first sentence is perfectly fine German, the second is just nonsense.
Though feel free to see German as gibberish, i'm not the kind of guy being offended by that :)

Re: smiley

Why not ? I'll pretty soon transfer this to the main Smilies thread, for which I shall not give the link since it would be recursive once transferred.

I can however say it's in General.

I think the appropriate interjection for this occasion is SQUEE!

(which, btw, sounds like a noise a dolphin would make)

Hehe, there are a dozen other ones in the dolphin set, but he said to not go nuts, so I toned down my enthusiasm.
But I may as well post them for the lulz.

With a few misgivings, I have added:

:happydolphin: :dolphin: :^^:

without any discernible porpoise to them.

Claverhouse has been bombarding me with small girls collected on his travels to the mysterious Orient ( Gensokyo Central Station, last call for passengers... ), so to shut him up I'll take this opportunity to add a few that are rather large and need only be used in dire emergencies:

:seraph: :mythcreature: :vic-girl: :alicemknits: :dontbelieve: :witch: :walker:

Which may be reduced in size when I have world enough and time.

For myself, I have added more ravens. One can never have too many corvidæ.

That would be appreciated. I've no idea how that is done... If you would place the improved versions back here, I'll swap them out; possibly after shrinking those that need diminishment. Thanks.

I'd leave raven01 as he ( or she ) is, though. The declining sunset implies the doom that awaits us all; not just forums.

We desperately need a FUKYO smilie!

She encapsulates just so much that, well... could be said in words... but would be so much prettier - and efficient - in a picture.

example:

poster A says something stupid...
poster B responds with :fukyo:

She conveys just that right combination of indifferent, unimpeachable scorn and piquant, insane comprehension... and pain... cold, cold, burning pain.... *shivers*

[flat yet dramatic outpouring]
Oh! The plain light of your idiocy causes me such suffering as can no longer move me to put out my eyes, since too long past the world's inane wrongness numbed my mind, embalmed my heart and froze me here in the seat of judgment, thereafter to observe from the lap of the gods... and the knowledge of it kills me! The dry fire of the muse of humanity consume me!
[/flat yet dramatic outpouring]

or...

I kinda got it wrong...

it's more a case of "that's so dumb I'd stab out my own eyes, but I can't be bothered"

...and I think that's a sentiment we need to convey often around here.

*looks at no one in particular*
