4.445/10.445 It is ok for what it is, but this genre of metal seems way too bland to me now, in terms of a multitude of bands all doing the same thing. But I fear this could also be me being out of touch with the genre...
despite bjork having one of the most provocatively simple and effortless creative processes usually resulting in novelty/museum kind of output, and despite "these new puritans" being the worst band name since "architecture in helsinki", i found the track to be quite enjoyable. 5/10
here is music from 2 people who probably could cite bjork as an influence. but their song writing is way superior imo.
I enjoy the simplicity and the nakedness of her voice. Also, the music and lyrics suited each other well. I don't know how to describe that better, but it's something I often find lacking. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10.
First of all I am musically retarded. I'll just state that right off the bat.
I forced myself to listen to the last post so as to respect the thread theme but I have to say it was pretty close to torture tbh. 3.5/10 for the shear fact that I know it can be so much worse. No offense just not me, I don't get edm or dub step or whatever genre that was. As I'm sure this would get a lower rating on anybody else's scale but this a definite 10/10 in my book...
sampled vocal or not? reminds me of enigma, era, chant of gregory etc. the singing voice also reminds me of the girl who sings here
your link is a well crafted soundtrack type of deal... maybe in its full context it takes on different hues, if the total music is more dark-ambient/neo-folk/industrial or some kinda noir thing like goldfrapp. i've seen the name dead can dance many times and was expecting something more "difficult". solid piece, but doesn't speak to me on its own. 5/10.
Thanks to QT, I've just remembered that Eminem exists. I have always had a soft spot for Eminem because he has such a pretty rage (I really don't know another brief way to word the sentiment). So this is where I am in my current binge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbGs_qK2PQA
That's one of my first listenings of Cohen. I like his voice, primarily his careless exhalation. The lyrics are quite engaging and appear personal.
Had to upload this one as I couldn't find the proper version.

nice! one of the most interesting things i've rated here so far. a busy soundscape that gives the impression of a street sometimes, with the disparate elements that complement each other beyond the purely musical realm yet do not violate tonality. very spacious in a real, non-gimmicky way. in this sense, it reminds me a lot of alio die. which i'll recommend if you're not familiar. it's less orchestral and more meditative/womb-like, but similar enough. i'll give your link a 7+/10
srs guy is talking fk
he's super depressed
projecting his depression onto society
he's in a box needs window
he seriously needs to doob out and chill with some chill homies
kind of cool part
omg he's reminiscing heartbreak how could i not see
instrumental part where i think i'm supposed to feel sorry for him
now it's been going for so long i think i'm supposed to feel sad about society
ok it's kind of seeping in now ya society and modern life is kind of like
falling and catching yourself is walking
the victory is empty and
in the end your actions don't matter
omg thx he's talking now
he's like perseverant warrior
oh but he makes a lame statement that he thinks is supposed to be cool
not feeling next instrumental

the solo is a better communication than his words
and right after/during that, it ends
