Your profile is that page devoted to you; and you choose a profile picture under User CP > Profile > Profile Picture.
Your signature can have a single image added; User CP > Settings and Options > Edit Signature = Upload Signature Image, just beneath the text box. Uploading is preferred, as a link may fail sometime.
