Ermaaaagawd pets ar sooo cute...

What pets do you all have???
Please share their cuteness with us, people!

If you choose an "other category" you are advised to specify the type of animal you choose to confine within your shelter.

Pictures of the animals are admired, and sharing their names are super-duper good.

2 cats, 2 birds, 3 fish and I used to keep various insects.

Also rather annoyed at lack of insect options. There are many cute insects.

Cats: Shadow, Snowy
Birds: Henry, Budgie (yes, very original)
Fish: Gold, Black, Gold #2
Insects: Martin the Mantis, Steven the Spider, Felix the Friendly Firefly, others I don't remember.

My current location is classified.
I'm going to guess the cat in redbaron's picture is Snowy, right?

I haven't had pets in a while. At the age of 2 I had a fish named Swimmy, but he died in a bit over a year. Then at 10, maybe eleven? I had 2 hermit crabs. They were really shy and they both eventually died over a really long time, so the exact age I got them is hard to tell.

My INFP brother is trying his best to get a baby kitten. He wants to name it Choo-Choo. I love cats, but I've never been able to have one.

2 current cats
1 past cat: Fløggstad (lived to 19)
2 past birds that became too many birds....
Frogs: many
Mouse: Mus musculus
Shrimps: damn difficult to see...
Fish: Pygmy corydoras, guppies, blue tetras, platies, catfish, snails
Insects: pray mantis, grasshopper, bumble bee
Arachnids: Wood scorpion, spider (large - had hundreds of babies -> potential for hundreds of large spiders in bedroom -> sudden end of spider tank in bedroom :phear:)

Edit: I would like to keep chickens. I've already thought up names for them: Esmeralda, Wilma, Daphne, Doris and Melba.

No that's Shadow. I would have called him Snowy ironically, but I already named the other black cat Snowy so...

I have three black cats, two goldfish (comets in a 30 gallon tank -- they're getting big), and an INTJ at the moment. I will, of course, be protecting their identities from the likes of you. I have had other cats and fish in the past. I've also had a rat, mice, rabbits, other random humans, and a spiderbro.

As soon as I reviewed the poll I remembered that specific practice.

Also madmins, is it possible for a poll editing functionality to be added, allowing one to change a poll with the same time restraints enacted upon the editing of posts?
(I understand that editing existent poll options would not be ideal, but adding new ones may be possible)

This is the second poll where I have forgotten to include a relevant choice.

past pets:
1 yappy little dog (family's choice)
2 budgies (family's choice)
2 turtles (gift from a friend which my mother made me return after a few days)
2 gerbils (which became fucking loads of gerbils following a sexing error at the pet shop)
1 hamster (the poor thing was doomed to be forever alone due to the gerbil incident and my hysterical mother)
2 rats (i have my own home now, mother, you can't tell me what to do)
1 crab
assorted frogs, toads, lizards, fish and bugs i cbf to list
5 (now dead) cats

i currently have a small hoard of cats. i'm not posting their names for security reasons as i suspect some of them might be double agents :phear::cat:

i miss having pet rodents but am no longer prepared to have pets which need to be caged.

there is a bat living in my cellar and i have fantasies about befriending the local crows.

Currently no pets (it's quite a relief to be free).
I used to live with [species(subcategory - name(,)]:
5 dogs (one alive):
Dachshund- Gałgan (phonetically ˈɡawɡãn)

2 German Shepherds - Doka, ? (Can't remember the other one)

Berneese Mountain Dog - Brutus (My name idea at the time, needless to say he was a brute, most of the time he used to rush at me, topple me to the ground just to lick my face and cuddle)

Labrador Retriever - Żuk (phon. ʒuk, he currently stays at the family house, cute dog, I trained him to retrieve and swim among other things, I have 4 other affectionate names that I commonly use around him)

7+ Cats (all deceased or missing in action):
George, Cast, Mist, Diabeł (Devil), Czarny (Black), (can't remember all)

In addition there used to be exotic fish, a tortoise, spiders in jars, chinchillas, octodons, a salamander (lived in the garden), featured exclusively in the garden (hedgehogs, frogs, toads, bird nests (Magpies, Passeridae and Parridae birds), rats, mice, bank voles, moles and all sorts of migratory insects, rodents, birds or amphibians (maybe not as pets, just living in the vicinity).

I added insects to the poll. I think you should exercise thoughtful design. The poll editing privilege comes with thread editing tools, so we can't separate or grant both.

I've had 2 stick bugs (Stjerne ((star)) and Dato ((date))). They lived, ate green stuff, then died.

2 hamsters (Nick and can't remember). I was a young teenager and got two from a random lady. Looking back I think they were inbreed and sickly. Poor things.

My parents bought a budgie, which they gave to my grandparents, which I reclaimed later (8 years maybe) as I was the only one who actually read up on birds (maybe I was around 16-17 then?) I tried giving it fruits and a better life, but I think it only lived for like 1 year more. I think it was scared and miserable its entire life. But I was too youngdumb to realize it in full back then.

I had an aquarium of 90litres for a while. That was very, very fascinating. I spent countless hours reading up on various fish species, living conditions, testing water quality etc etc. It looks nice as well. Though, in hindsight I don't know if I could justify keeping fishies in such small spaces. And the way they are treated in pet stores (though, you could buy them privately, ofc). Hmm, I would need to do more research on fishies to know.

I have two cats, Vincent and Toci, 8 years old. I had Vincent on my lap earlier and a tick crawled over and bit me >:
Cats are cute, but they can be a bit demanding at times. I don't think I'll get new cats when they die. For more than one reason.

I will keep my human pets secret :3 You know who you are

I didn't own, but I did look after a rabbit for about 6 months while a friend of a friend was overseas. I let it go loose in my bedroom (which was bigger than my current living room). It pooped everywhere and it did weird jumps which I read is supposed to be an indicator of it thriving. Which probably wouldn't take much as the owner kept it in a cage 3 times the size of the rabbit pretty much all day. She also gave him the wrong food I found after researching.
In hindsight maybe I should've done something about that rabbit too. Last time I saw it, it was back in its tiny cage and old food with no indicator of a better life.

My mother had two dogs at home. Most dogs I don't tend to like, they are kinda pushy and all over the place. Stressful. I don't think I'd ever want a dog. Well, I would agree to it if the person I lived with would really want one. Maybe

I had innumerable outdoor cats growing up, along with two different dogs, and a fishtank full of aquatics who remained nameless from pet store to toilet (may samsara treat them to a better future life).

Since I left home years ago, I've just had humans and cats. I released one human back to the wild a few years ago (more power to them), and now three offspring who have somehow survived to adulthood and wandered off the reservation.

The cats have stayed. Only the last one was truly "mine," the earlier two were left without a place to go and I took them in.

The first (belonging to a college friend) was named Spock. Got hit by a car. :(

The next was named Beowulf and belonged to a workplace friend -- I didn't want to take in Grendel since the pair of them would consistently trash his home. Had to send him away to a farm once we had humans, and that's where he eventually passed on.

My current monster is Pascal, I got him from the humane society when he was two months old and abandoned with his siblings in a box alongside the road. He's four years old now, I think.

Both from this week:

I know but you were half right :p

Snowy is mostly black, with white socks and a white chest.

Presently : 3 cats, 1 dog, 1 fish ( true warrior here ) and 8 parrots ( soon 7, one of them will be putted down by the end of the week, sadly he has an unknown sickness he fought for a long time and he became super agressive in the process ) .

Total of the animals I ( and my family because I live with them ) got in the past + present :

- 8 dogs + babies we gave after some time
- 4 cats
- 3 rabbits
- Probably 30+ fishes
- 8 hermit crabs
- 1 snake
- 1 lizard
- 2 hamsters
- 1 guinea pig
- 1 rat
- Ducks, apparently. I can't remember them.
- So many parrots I can't even count them. Hundreds. At a time we were rescuing parrots nobody wanted of anymore, people could leave them at our place for a low price. We were then fixing the bad behavior that caused the abandonement and reselling them for a quarter to a third of their value to new families when it was possible ( one could think it was very lucrative, but it was in fact very expensive and very few profits were made out of this ) .

Also countless wild bugs that had a very short life span from the moment they were captured.

Oh, and a turtle we kept for a week before giving it to someone else, because the previous owner didn't wanted of it anymore. And it's the only turtle I ever saw not knowing how to swim.
