Ok that sounds like spam, but MIT seriously does make all its courses, over 2000 of them, available online for free on its website: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/. Anything and everything is there including computer science, philosophy, maths and whatever else you're interested in.

If there aren't at least 20 people on here creaming their pants about how awesome this is, I'm giving up for good on INTPs.

Is knowledge truly valuable in and of itself? Acknowledged that knowledge grants one power - ability, but what compels one to use that power, to use that ability? Higher purposes wherein knowledge merely becomes a means to an end, but without a compelling end, the means mean nothing. Knowledge is utterly useless.

I think it's been mentioned in another thread too. Could do with one being made a sticky somewhere.

Philosophizing about knowledge is fun. Unless you don't like epistemology.

(argh; There's no course on epistemology.)

Thanks for the link. At a minimum it provides a structure around which to learn more about a particular subject. I can see me spending a lot of time there.

Are any in English? Why not post a link to them?

I want to say School =/= Learning. Different personalities means different methods of learning. And correct me if i'm wrong, are these words? I hate words. ...nasty little buggers.

Wow. Is this what college is like? That was like the most user-friendly class (Intro to Computing and Programming) I've ever seen...and I'm in high school.

Seriously, it's like he went out of his way NOT to make the course painful. My teachers do quite the opposite (and think it's fucking HILARIOUS).

If that's college, then damn I can't wait for September.

EDIT: Dude! The dude throws candy? WTFisthisshit?

nah only in australia bro

College/university is, for the most part, nothing like this and honestly rather terrible. You'll probably prefer it somewhat to high school for the wide range of material available, and probably the impersonal nature of it; I personally hate it and prefer self-learning.

I watched some of these lectures and they are pretty much exactly the same as my state university classes. (University of Florida.) This makes me slightly upset at Ivy League Kids with huge ego problems. Granted there are plenty of kids at state schools with ego problems, but I'm just saying.

However, after I graduate and have more free time I'll probably go back and utilize these. I honestly don't understand why every university doesn't do this. The students aren't paying for the information they are paying for the degree. Besides tuition tends to make up such a small piece of the revenues pie for a major university, especially a research university like MIT or UF or most other state/large scale universities. The students' role is to add prestige to the school, thereby attracting the best professors to conduct the best research and write grant proposals. Actually the students end up doing most of the grunt work of the research. So we're paying the school to do its work.

sorry for rant

You seem to sever all my frequencies. I'm full of hate, don't fuck with me. The only thing that matters is... motherfucker you don't understand.

And if you're gonna quit, we got to fight the real enemy. Get ready for epitome... come on and pity me... killing from the inside.

Do you understand?
