Ok, so I'm a little worried. Every day when coming home from school, I pass by a building that just recently had alot of remodeling done to it, and when I look inside, I see big arches, a couple pews, and an altar-looking thing at the front of the room. There is a sign that has been hung on the outside that says about 6 different words in arabic, I think. And on top of that, one day I saw a guy in a turban and robes and a long black beard walking outside of the building. I've tried to get a better look inside, but since I only drive by it, I don't have much time to see anything.

Is this normal, or should I be concerned?:slashnew:

Erm, concerned about what exactly? Also, such a building is called mosque - if it really is a mosque.

Why don't you walk in and ask what the building is. It is probably a mosque, and if so, they will probably enjoy the interest of someone in their neighborhood.

What on earth are you worried about?

No, you should not be concerned, just because someone is Arabic, and/or dresses in traditional Islamic garb doesn't mean you should be concerned about them being terrorists. That would be like being concerned about Mexicans moving in because of course they must be illegals .

Yes, you should be very concerned. Terrorism is a possibility, but we mustn't exclude the possibility that this might be the infamous muslim sect that uses the teachings of the 7.78th book of Ku(u)ran, an ancient artifact that has yet to be revealed to the general public! I hear they sacrifice black and white kittens only, so it would be advisable to take the pet, should you own one that matches the description with you to the bunker. Don't forget to stock up on food and first aid aid supplies. Run to the supermarket! What are you waiting, get going! Nao!

Why is this in the MBTI section anyway...?

All religions are dangerous, act accordingly. Well except Buddhism, they seem peaceful. Anyways, I highly doubt these people are worth being worried about. If you're curious about their behavior and ideas, go there and ask questions.. I'm sure they aren't against outsiders of their faith, especially if you acted as if you were considering joining. Could be fun, if not interesting! Surely, Indiana Muslims speak english.

That depends. What sect of Islam is it? Who is the Imam? Who is funding the Mosque?

Multiculturalism is just as stupid as bigotry. A bigot glosses over details because he wants to hate other cultures; a multiculturalist glosses over details because he wants to feel warm and fluffy about other cultures.

Of course they would have to sit in the back or, else ride on their own designated bus that only comes around every hour.

Seriously OP, why? What does it matter what choices a person makes? And for the fact that its something you don't understand doesn't mean you need to fear it or hate it. We are all people living on this same planet.

If consequences matter, then choices matter.

For example, the 1993 attempt to bring down the World Trade Center was coordinated through the Al-Farooq Mosque in Brooklyn. Liberalpedia, ahem, wikipedia, describes the cleric Omar Abdel Rahman as "controversial," which understates the issue just a widdle bit. Fortunately, he is now serving a life sentence in a federal prison.

Just in case you and I ever tangle over whether or not it's okay to bring the gitmo detainees here for trial, I want to save this as proof that you know the federal court system works. A lot of people who use phrases like 'liberalpedi, ahem, wikipedia' seem to like pretending it doesn't. :beatyou: I have you now! :beatyou:

Edit: forgot to address the OP:
should I be concerned?

Only if you're a pussy.

You mean the Let's -get- together- and-jump-the-sheep-like-bandwagon- get- paranoid- about- every turban- and- beard- in- the- neighbourhood -because- we -are- ignorant, -suspicious, -uneducated- and -judgemental- about- different- people- due- to -lack -of -travelling,- being- gullible- enough- to- swallow- all- the- media-hype-that emphasises -only- negative- sides -of -a -certain -culture-and- unable- to- put -ourselves- in someone- else's- shoes- due- to- complete- and- utter- selfishness,- lack -of- integrity-and- originality -forum?

I think the only people who had a real reason to worry about strangers in their country were the American Indians and every other culture invaded and exterminated by certain people.

There is always two sides to a story. The world is complex, not simple. Go out and open your mind. This forum is a good place to start.
