I was thinking about starting a personality identifying service here in town. Where I would do the MBTI test in person with anyone who was interested to know more about themselves. I would charge a flat rate per session which would be at least 2 hours and go over the questions. I would frame the questions in a way that feels natural to them and makes it easy for them to think for themselves in that scenario and give a correct answer. I think this makes it more realistic for them than if they're just filling out a form on their own?
I would be filling out the form on a laptop while asking my prepared questions and describing scenarios. After the last question I'd give them their result. I would have organized data for each personality type listing their strengths, weaknesses, relationship information, career information, hobbies, goals, etc and ask them what they personally want to know most about and then delve into those specific sections with them.
I could have prepared a booklet for them to keep and read on their own and give them resources to other recommended books on amazon and forums where they can socialize with other people of their type. I think this would be really beneficial for people who are interested in improving themselves. The type of crowd that falls into the astrological signs would eat this type of thing up I think.
But also a lot of intelligent more logical thinking people could also see the benefits of learning about themselves. This is the sort of thing I think happens in high schools? I never graduated so I'm not sure. I think parents would be interested in something like this for their children so that they can better understand them and connect better with them. Parents are having an awfully hard time connecting with their children these days.
Do you think there would be some interest in this? I wouldn't advertise it as something like "Learn about your MBTI personality from the 16 archetypes!!" but a more personal approach like "Learn your skills, advantages, strengths, weaknesses and the ideal career and hobbies of your personality by taking an interesting test from a psychological professional"
"Oh you are a thinking personality, have you ever found yourself acting like x in y situation? Yeah me too, well here's some of our strengths. Are you doing x in your life? Research states that this is a great outlet for your personality type. I can recommend some of these activities. Etc etc." Sort of like a therapy session.
What do you think of this service idea?
