my imagination :)
responses are appreciated :)

lately i have been noticing a lack of interests/hobbies in myself. This is (obviously) not a good thing, since when i'm not "passionate" about something i tend to waste my time doing absolutely nothing, which is not very productive....plus, it doesn't give me anything to think about/solve/etc.

so, i was wondering if any of you felt the same way, as well as what some of your interests/hobbies are.

....i know i already said this but- responses are _greatly_ appreciated :P

thanks

What do you enjoy doing when you're not doing anything? Do you just browse the internet aimlessly and let the hours slip by, or do you fill up the time with "useless" activities? If you can find something you like doing when you're not doing anything, it can be a good indication of where to look for purposeful scheduled "hobby" stuff. Do you like to read? Any particular genres, or would you like some recommendations? Do you enjoy playing on games consoles, or PC gaming? If so, which genre type games do you enjoy, are there any you've not tried?

While this may get me a bit of scorn from those who considered themselves higher up the so-called "Geek Hierachy", I LRP. Generally I tend to stick to fantasy based LRP systems, but the great thing about it is you can be as social as you like. If you don't want to interact with certain people, then you don't, and if you do, then you do. Plus the entire thing allows for however much of a creative outlet you wish to invest into it. Want to make your own costume and weapons? As long as you know how, you can, and it's easy to find out how.

I do like to read, and i read pretty much anything. If you have any recommendations for good books i will take them :)

I enjoy PC gaming..mainly because i get confused on how to control the characters on the consoles.

what lrp fantasy based systems do you tend to like? I've never tried...though it does sound intriguing.
thanks btw

Books wise, if you've never read a Pratchett book, I'd advise getting into the Discworld series. He's developed as a writer, so his earlier Discworld books are of a slightly different style to his later Discworld books, but all in all they're pretty good. Non-fiction wise, I'd have to suggest J.S.Mill "On Liberty", but that's only because I've been advising that book to anyone and everyone who seems intelligent enough to listen, and Mill is literally a liberal diety.

What sort of genres do you like with your PC games? I know these suggestions will be a bit out of date, but if you can get hold of Broken Sword 1 and 2, Curse of Monkey Island, and Sam and Max Hit The Road, you should enjoy them; that is if you enjoy puzzles and point and click. If not, I can suggest other games, though I'll try and keep them low spec in requirement, because I know not everyone can play some of the newer games how they're meant to be played.

I play several mid-fantasy based systems. Song of Steel and Maelstrom are my primary systems. Photographs from the Maelstrom campaign can be found here, and photos from the Song of Steel campaign can be found on the website, though the public gallery is smaller than the private one. Obviously, both these systems are U.K based, and my knowledge of non-U.K systems is extremely limited to "We do it better than the Americans".

Lost in my thoughts
Myself, I tend to play a lot of music (piano, cello, guitar), read books, write (in a diary, a story, whatever), or play video games. In the way of books, I suggest reading the Holmes Short Stories, novels by Agatha Christie, or the any of The Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Mystery of Marie Roget, or The Purloined Letter (all by Edgar Allan Poe). I found that those novels are a fine way to sharpen the intellect (by trying to solve the story yourself)...or maybe that's just me ;). I also love going to the university library and pulling out a ton of books on a subject that I'm interested in, and staying inside for a while...:D

strategy mostly...i used to be quite fond of the age of empires games.

but if you can get hold of Broken Sword 1 and 2, Curse of Monkey Island, and Sam and Max Hit The Road, you should enjoy them; that is if you enjoy puzzles and point and click.
I'm pretty sure i will...thanks, i'll try to find them

i'll definitely go to the library and check out the pratchett books.

Non-fiction wise, I'd have to suggest J.S.Mill "On Liberty", but that's only because I've been advising that book to anyone and everyone who seems intelligent enough to listen, and Mill is literally a liberal diety.
x] in that case, i'll try to find that book as well.

I'll give them a try....

I adore reading agatha christie novels. Her best one (in my opinion) is "and then there were none"

its funny that you mention that since that's exactly what i did yesterday :p
