Just out of curiosity, does anybody have the entirety of Jung's collected works? I have Psychological Types, and my copy of the one concerning the collective unconcious just came in. I was looking at the other works, and they all seem incredibly interesting. I'm mostly just curious to see what you guys think of his other works and whether you think they carry much validity.

I am ordering a couple. I'll see if I might want to get them all.

I've already checked and couldn't find them in a bundle, the price would likely be at least $500.

I don't think Jung was going for scientific consideration. His books are meant to be spiritual explorations. So as for validity, you really have to make your own conclusions.

Nice. Yeah, I have 6 and 9 from that list. Like I said, 9 just came in. I'm looking forward to delving into it starting tonight.

I think that, despite going more for spiritual exploration, Jung did try and approach his topics in a very objective, observable manner. I guess by questioning the validity of the works I am more asking if anyone has observed things that back up what Jung discusses.

Everything from Volume 5 onwards is written after his split from Freud, and seems the most valuable to me. I've got 6 of his Collected Works books in front of me, but have read only two in their entirety.

His writing prose is incredibly hard for me to understand sometimes. Vol 5 (Symbols of Transformation) took me forever to read. I thought it was a really slow read. A couple of good chapters though.

Two Essays on Analytical Psychology (Vol 7) was a great read. I am trying to read the books in order. I've read bits and pieces from his other works from the book, The Portable Jung.

I've been reading Psychological Types this month (already read his general types part). It's been interesting to see him dissect other people's (Schiller, Neitzche, Jordan) opinions on the type problem!

Also have read Memories, Dreams and Reflections, and Man and his Symbols. Man and his Symbols might be a good starting point, and is relatively cheap.

Oh well there are a few things that have resonated:

Introverted Intuition
Collective Unconscious
Archetypes

He was definitely on to something.

I recommend reading his seminar on Nietzsche's Zarathustra. It was a real eye-opener on Nietzsche's psychology and it became a very sad read towards the end. I had to take a few long breaks from it because it was making me feel insane.
