Does anyone have speculation on some key phenotypical features an istj male or female may possess? Just because one possesses one or more of these doesn't make them that type. However, it would, oddly enough, be more of an indicator of one's type. In other instances, there will be some cross inclusion reflected in differences of one or two letters, I.e some bleeding of characteristics between esfp&esfj, amongst certain stereotypes.

Sat being said, i sink istj males of any age are more susceptible to using the word 'bud' or 'buddy' when describing other males. They might also have "crow's feet" between the temple & eyes. They might have a semi noteworthy quality about their skin texture. Some of them, male or female, might have a more pronounced jaw or their bottom lip might extend a small amount more forward than the upper lip. Some of the males might be relatively short or of average build, and some would be more prone to being somewhat athletic in build, considering their frame.

Also, as is widely suspected, they, perhaps along with estj, seem to have a thin for authority... Whether it be condoning it, being a fan of it (on Facebook nonetheless), or aspiring to be a part of it.

Basically, if someone approaches you and uses the word bud they might be istj and one can potentially take steps to ensure everyone leaves happy, if the energy required is worth it. If not, some other option can be selected. Also, the word bud has been used by people of other type, hence any additional indicators as to what a type could be.

I seriously doubt I've ever seen an ISTJ male who wasn't wearing a belt, even with shorts or jeans. Belt & tube socks with shorts ftw. Wallet always in back pocket... parted hair... I'm shuddering just thinking about it.

The ISTJ I know is short, round, and does not take very much care for her appearance. She has very little money as she is supporting herself and her disabled mother. She keeps clean but wears a lot of second hand clothes and refuses to spend very much on clothes or things related to personal appearance. She does not wear makeup. She puts her hair in a clip in the morning and forgets its existance.

She pulls herself inward all the time making her look slumped. When sitting she slouches under her desk or sits with her feet curled under her all as if to make herself as small as possible.

When she is on a mission she is direct and quick with her movements and words but in a manic sort of way making her clumsy both physically and verbally.

I used to joke that if she had a spirit animal it would be a little blonde mouse. She is timid but quick in her movements. She likes to nest down in one place and move as little as possible once settled thereby creating an ever growing nest of things around her throughout the day.

I would somehow suspect that males have a square face more often than not. They would be good underlings too.

I've known a lot of them, and none were overweight, but they're not thin either. They are the masters of normalcy so I'd speculate they keep their weight within bounds on purpose.

This.

The most salient characterisitic that I know of with respect to ISTJs, is their attention to physical details. ISTJs seem the most likely to spot a flaw with physical thing, such as, when the plates have been washed, to scan them over and say in less than a second "missed a bit", which gives them an impression of high critical judgement in physical matters. It's this quality of critical sense-detection that makes them called "the Inspectors", as this type of quality is usually what is required for a health inspector, safety inspector, or some other kind of physical checker. It's also why so many became accountants, because they can scan over an entire book of accounts, and see almost immediately which numbers are out of place and thus don't add up.

Hm, back when I was living with a most likely istj male figure, he had this obsession with "checking" the job we did on whatever chore we were assigned. It was kind of annoying how at least 50% of the time we'd have to go back because, yes, we "missed a spot". Washing cars was teh worst. There was a specific way that had to be done, or the car simply wasn't clean. After a while he told me the technique was logical, in an attempt to get me to abide.

There might be this tendency which would be related to inf Ne... I had actually witnessed one inferior extravert intuit once. It was kind of interesting. Unless I'm mistaken about the 'identity' of a few people... They seem to be curious about what's going on in the environment in a subtle yet obvious way. Maybe some Si-Se dynamics, or their Ne in which they would have a tendency to flash items where it would be somewhat appropriate to do so yet also unnecessary to do so, or possible to do it in a subtle manner yet they choose the option which would garner more exposure to any observers. It's like they're partially conscious in those situations, not being too concerned with ramifications. idk

I'm not saying I've never been in a similar situation, but it might be kinda different. Also not completely sure what their internal processes would be like, before & after. There was a post I began regarding experiences esfp & enfp but I never posted it. In extreme cases fannypack & glasses.

Yours?

Idk, there's this one guy I see around pretty often who at first looks like a stereotypical intp, but after a while he started to come off as more SJ to me, probably a young istj in the making..

Could be ISFJ. I have a male cousin who I thought was INTP for about a year. Now I have him typed as ISFJ. The fact that he is a professional engineer and programs computers for a hobby might confound things a bit....
