I’m trying to see if there is a relationship between MBTI types and their preferred political stand point.

1. Are you right or left? (Saying both or either is fine, just try to specify on question 2).

2. Why?

Are you seriously asking if people fall neatly into ridiculous reductions like left and right?
Why?

Is this left/right as per the US standard? I mean - I like a free market with a small state. I'm not a conservatist though - I like abortion rights and legalized drugs.

In general I'm all about personal freedom and personal responsibility. That doesn't really fit on either side in US, but it does fit on the right in the Nordic area.

like Serac said, left and right isn't even the same thing across countries... so what standard are we even discussing here?

And people don't necessarily fall into the one bloc or the other, it's more of an issues-based thing. IOW, this survey seems to not have been thought through very far.

I'm socially liberal but tend towards conservatism when it comes to government spending.

Tough crowd.

This argument boils down to the Openness and Conscientiousness traits in Big 5.

INTP's generally score higher in the "change stuff" department rather than believing in traditional values.

I'm not sure it boils down to that, though yeah, it's relevant.

Generally, that's how I would label myself.

I'm not sure we have any true conservatives in power in the USA right now, since the GOP is happy to spend a buttload of money on their own pet issues. The thing is you still have to figure out how to deal with populace issues and balance that with what money the government has to operate. What government exists exists for the citizens, not for its own sake. But there's also a few levels of government here (local, state, federal), so some of it is also which level is responsible for addressing what issues.

Tough crowd.
I would recommend cooking for less time, in a nice pat of garlic butter.

I'm a zealot without a cause, apolitical pending a doctrine that bridges the gap between the totality of personal experience and a vision of proper political activity using valid rules of inference. If such a thing is impossible, it must be that I play no role in any sort of providence that involves my conscious cooperation. Were I to become convinced that this were the case, I would probably remain apolitical because I find politics repulsive.

I mention Openness and Conscientiousness because those are the best psychometrics we have to predict if someone is liberal or conservative. This pulls on a much longer piece of thread, which if you follow it, leads to what people are more genetically/environmentally predisposed to do.

hi all! First post here.

I'm a bit of a political junky, but trying to stop---too stressful.

I'm a US constitutionalist/originalist: that which governs best governs least, and all that. I have a libertarian streak a mile wide and believe that most things in life are none of the government's business. And dear government, keep thy hands out of my pockets, especially if all that you're going to do is hand my hard-earned coin to someone else who wants it or claims to need it. I will decide my charities, thanks.

This coming Australian federal election I'm voting for the Science and Reason parties (independants) then Greens (to stop those damn multinationals stealing our resources) and finally Labor to piss off my Dad (we have a preferential system in case you're wondering how I can vote for so many parties/candidates).

How often do you give to charity?

I would rather suffer the cosequences of freedom than living a cush life as a domesticated dog. I.e. I'm not a socialist.

That's weak. You can't compete with the true masters of sophistry and ad-homs, like redbaron, or pizzabeak

You defend a neoliberal ideology in which you are a resource to be used, abused and discarded, I believe the correct term for this is "boot-licker".

Only the weak, dumb, and potentially state-employed views freedom as a precursor to abuse.

How exactly does healthcare and social security impair your so called freedom?

If you don't want public services why are you paying taxes, isn't that just extortion?
