Competition versus Collaboration
Seems like we, as humans, waste a lot of energy, time and resources
trying to 'rank' our Selves socially...

I mean, I am constantly distracted by those
who consider themselves my 'equals'
so we have to have a little contest...

I hate it even more when the subject of contention is an actual fact that can be disproven fairly easily. And they just don't care.

I do not understand why as a biology major, I need to take 4 credit hours of spanish.

Pick something you like about the language and use it as an anchor.

Suggestions: growing living language, if you learn it well you can read ancient stuff with relatively little effort, big literary tradition, lots of regional forms to chose from, easy orthography, a lot like latin/other romance languages, many words on loan from arab and american native languages, lingua franca in most of the americas, great music with lyrics in it, and... ah yes, it's great to confuse Noddy with.

I get fairly upset that my peers find me such an anomaly, and all of the outgoing ones like to bring me out of my shell by inviting me to sit with them or saying things like, "Dude, do you always talk like you just woke up? I'd like to see you at Six Flags." Or "Her brain broke! I made her smile! No, but seriously, you ever watch Daria? Because, I mean, I see a resemblance."

Also, I hate being a girl for way, way more than the obvious physical complications. I'll just cut this one off here because it's probably thread-worthy in and of itself. And the thread probably already exists and doesn't require any necroing.

I hate it that I have to sleep in order to avoid becoming a half-dead zombie, despite the fact that I absolutely loathe trying to sleep at night (usually) 'cause I can't shut my mind off long enough to make it to the Sandman's village in time to have some dream about being chased by bears or some shit.

However, once I make it there, I will never want to leave, EVER! At said village, I will be questioned by their police about a mysterious "Mr. Alarm" who has claimed that I was scheduled to appear in his court at precisely 7:00 AM. The policeman informs me that I must attend this hearing in time or something terrible will happen. I refuse, so he arrests me and takes me to this Mr. Alarm.

Upon reaching the courthouse, I manage to escape the police's handcuffs and I run away as they chase me. The chase lasts exactly 9 minutes until they finally catch me for good.

I am taken to the courtroom and the judge sentences me for 16 hours without parole.
