INFPs: type yourself correctly or go home.

I notice a number of INFPs on this forum mis-typed as INTPs who are displaying emo tendencies, sulking, wollowing in their pain, sharing poetry, music artists, and just generally exuding their INFPness.

I think this throws off a lot of newcomers who are just learning what an INTP is, and tarnishes the purity of it all, making it trickier for actual INTPs to find like-minds.

I don't mean to be heartless about it, but we are in fact a rare species and...

T-envy anyone?

Of course, they can't possibly be an INTP if they experience sadness or enjoy arts!

Also, I'm pretty sure most people post from home anyway. So let's say these INFP's go home, what then? Won't they still be posting? Maybe you should have specified that they don't post here, because them going home doesn't really change anything, now does it?

Your avatar signifies something spiritual also. Must be an NF.

Your post is not well thought out and you're a closet spiritualist.

Diagnosis: you're not an INTP. Don't go home though, just kill yourself instead. That way I won't have to put up with NF scum like you filling up the forum. Idiot!

who are displaying emo tendencies, sulking, wollowing in their pain,

I may have been viewed in this way in my youth. We tend to show some unusual functions in our youth especially when we face issues at home. For the most part, the pain that I see is not a cause of too much emotion or self pity but instead the lack of emotion creating apathy, leading to depression.

Your stance is fairly aggressive and faces a few assumptions that may stem from certain bias but that is for you to examine. Art can be loved by the Fe function and Ne. I don't think Ti is good for judging art but Fe should be adequate. A healthy INTP can use Fe, although that does not mean they will enjoy or understand art.

I cannot say that I disagree with the wrath of RedBaron. Although he approaches things differently perceptually and with action, than I do, I think I can understand his harsh reply. It may be in your best interest to reexamine your stance.

Thank you for your measured and balanced response Grayman.

My post is intended for INFPs who are confused only.

I don't expect any INTPs to get offended over this thread.

Maybe I should point out that I wasn't being completely serious, I was exaggerating for effect. Or perhaps it's too late, and being the NF that he/she is, OP has already sunk into a crushing depression as a result of my callousness - because obviously depression and feeling are NF-exclusive traits.

EDIT: Clearly this is true, as evidenced by the fact that they have now displayed typical NF-style avoidance to negativity and neglected to respond to my criticisms.

OP confirmed INFP.

I think in context of all your other posts we can see that low self worth is not an emotion you are capable of. In fact I have often felt the opposite. That may help your case in notifying the op that you are not INFP but I suppose it was not without cost to your overall image. It is the best that I can do. I am a creature of balance after all.

"purity" and "like-minds"

what emotional notions

It is sad that we must resort to such notions at times but on the bright side it has lead to some world changing ideas like Nazism, and racism.

Pft, you think you INTPs have it bad?

A great many of us INFJs are forced out of our own sanctuaries because we're drowning in a fucking tsunami of mistyped INFPs. Quite recently I helped one such person who was adamant she was an INFJ - I even directed her to the place where I got typed as I know they're accurate and thorough. Obviously, they pointed out her blatant FiNe preference and she lost her shit completely; she became aggressive, vehemently refuting their analysis and, later, also sent a PM to me essentially calling me a piece of shit.

It was as hilarious as it was saddening; her entire PM was the epitome of an inferior Te rundown and her desperate attempts to cling on to an identity that wasn't her own was quintessential Fi - she wanted confirmation of her perception of self, rather than to be correctly typed. She openly admitted that she couldn't cope with "Not being an INFJ". Very strange.

I digress. Basically, I'm right there with you on one hand (the feels!) but on the other, count yourselves lucky. INFPs are the bane of INFJ communities. Before I was correctly typed, I had some (now apparent) mistyped INFPs saying "No, you aren't one of us - you are no way an INFJ!"

Jesus.

Mercifully, I've found a fantastic INFJ group on LinkedIn which is populated by people in their mid-thirties and beyond; it's great being able to speak to the 'real deal' who also have more life experience / wisdom to impart.

HAHAHA!

Yes. That's always funny.

For some reason that line from "The Sound of Music" by the Colonel comes to mind: "Rolf. You'll NEVER be one of them."

... oh. Oh crap. I reference TSoM. I'm an F! Please, shoot me now. Don't let me live in this undying hell.

You should visit Hadoblado's thread and call dem INFP's out. I think that we can use that venue to prove/disprove our INTPness (as if that's even necessary...)

Anyways, this thread is too vague and would only result in conflicts which would turn your target newcomers more than the resident INFP's here.

I'm certainly not a club member Pi. Just a guy who enjoys reading the forums and commenting from time to time.

I wouldn't make much of a fuss about me over this.

I wouldn't make much of a fuss about me over this.

So let's get this straight:

- you think the forum is full of INFPs (+INFP projection)
- you enjoy reading the forum that you think is full of INFPs (+INFP connection to other Fi-users)
- avoiding conflict (+INFP)
- playing yourself down (+INXP)
- made a thread about the issue of certain forum behaviours impeding people's ability to connect on an individual level (+Fi^10)

Blatantly INFP.

Now. There's only one way to respond to this new knowledge. Condensed into list format, because it's hard for Fi-doms to follow fluid rational concepts unless they're formatted in such a way as to have clear structure and intent (Te-inferior).

1. Develop a Ji-Pi dominant-tertiary function complex and experience crushing anxiety and uncertainty for at least several weeks.

2. Rethink your entire life only to come to the same conclusions as before.

3. Emerge from your depression as equally mystified as to the motives of other human beings as you were before.

4. Finally come to terms with this through the Ne-Si axiom.

5. Delight in this newfound piece of the universal puzzle that is your world-view. Even though you aren't quite sure what to make of yet - you're still able to store it for later use, knowing that this experience has enriched you in some yet unknown way, comfortable with the knowledge that it will likely manifest in some sort of, 'Eureka!' moment further down the long road that is your life.

As I ride off into the sunset I leave you with a parting gift that may be agnostic to typology, but is perhaps not unrelated to intelligence.

I suggest to all members of this forum, club members and otherwise, to place $100-$500 USD, or whatever you can spare but no more than you'd be willing to lose into Bitcoin.

The easiest way to do this in the US is: www.coinbase.com
It can be done nearly anywhere here: www.localbitcoins.com

We'll revisit this topic every year on this day for five years if you would all be so kind to humor me.

He's already attested to his sins. No reason to drag him through the mud anymore just because you're upset. I am also tired of people attributing all bad traits to the INFP persona. Your comments are not 'just' degrading mindtheplatonicap but anyone who has embraced the INFP persona as their own.

It is possible but it is still an inadvertent attack on the INFP persona. I suppose my fears are that the INFP will see this and refrain from embracing the type and further creating an innacurate perception of what the types represent good or bad. I believe this was the fear in the OP although I think his selection of the word purity denotes a feeling of superiority.

Edit: other than that I know that redbaron is simply trying to backdoor the OP into being defined as the very thing he seems to hate. ...Although hate is a strong word and an exaggeration but it will do. Perhaps devalues would be more accurate.

I doubt any INFPs who hang out on this forum so easily have their buttons pushed, and if they already weren't embracing the type, why would this thread have any impact on them from the start in helping them embrace the type? The whole thread was misguided and ineffective from the start, it was little more than a vent... resulting in people playing around in the thread. That's all this is: Play time.

Edit: other than that I know that redbaron is simply trying to backdoor the OP into being defined as the very thing he seems to hate. ...Although hate is a strong word and an exaggeration but it will do. Perhaps devalues would be more accurate.

i think attaching an emotional state to rb's post was far more than warranted. It just made you sound like you were immersed in an emotional state of your own.

... wait, did I respond to all that? I still don't believe this!
