I've been getting into Starcraft a lot recently, and am highly anticipating SC2.

Anyway, I'm going to make a map for the original Starcraft.

Description:
Were you disheartened by the lack of emphasis on air units as opposed to ground units? Sure, you can make a small army of wraiths and scouts, and occasionally a battlecruiser or carrier, but it just costs too many resources and supplies to build them en masse as you can marines, dragoons, zerglings, and even goliaths.

This map is going to be practically an aircraft-only map. The only ground units allowed will be worker units, and hydralisks, dragoons, and goliaths. These will cost 50, 75, and 75 minerals, respectively. Hydralisks will not be able to evolve into lurkers. The workers will only be 25 minerals.

The spire, starport, and stargate will replace the spawning pool, barracks, and gateway, respectively. And they will all cost 150 minerals.

The basic air units will cost double the basic ground units (100 for wraith, 200 for scout, and 75 for mutalisk(not double because their attacks aren't as good as the others, arguably)). They will each cost one supply point. Corsairs and Valkyries will cost 200 minerals, 50 gas, and 2 supply points. Devourers and guardians will cost an additional 75 minerals and 50 gas, and 1 supply point.

That's all I have now, and all I will say in this thread. If you want to know the rest, or play it, then simply check yes in the poll. I'm not sure how many people here like Starcraft, but if I get five yeses, I will upload the file to mediafire and you download it and add it to your starcraft. :D

This shouldn't take longer than two days.

1)The map already exists(?) "Island hoppers" ( i think that was the map name [4 players])

2)balance issues
a) Wraith is too cheap for an invis unit
b) corsair costs less than a scout in ladder yet you make it as much as a valkyrie on your map?
c) where does the zerg's "scourge" fit into all of this? unbuildable? they dominate air-air conflicts if the player is profficient at micro (which imo isnt that hard).

Thank you for your comments and concerns.

1. Meh. That's not enough. I love air units more than anything, and there are barely any maps where air units can truly reign supreme.

2.
a. It will be 100 minerals. That's like, 50 minerals off from the original. I suppose I could make it 150 to balance out the fact that it won't cost 100 gas, but I don't know if I really want to. Actually, I think I might do that. But if it's really that much of a problem I can make the tech to make them invisible more money. Besides that, with all the detector units and buildings from all three races (not to mention the scanner sweep), the fact that they are invisible shouldn't be too much of a problem.
b. Alright. I can see that. So I'll replace Corsairs with Scouts as the main air unit for the Protoss, so Corsairs will cost like, 125 minerals and 1 supply point, and then Scouts will cost 200 minerals, 50 gas, and 2 supply points.
c. Yes, the scourge will be buidable, and having a lot of them as Zerg, with probably the worst air units in the game, will be pivotal. They will cost 50 and 25.

ALL air units from all races will be in the map. My first post was only a rough outline. After I get the map done, I'll work on specifics like optimizing prices, techs, buildings, etc...

I only put those three ground units in there to help even out balance issues caused by air only. And all three of those units can attack air units. I chose the goliath over the marine because the marine doesn't even compare against Dragoons and hydralisks.

Thank you for helping me with this map.
