Jesus Christ, does anyone have any idea at all what I should do or should I just run into something hard? I'm so excitingly terrified.

Lost, after wandering irresponsibly away from the
Weeee! I like rushes like that: it's like being chased by something and you just feel so energetic. Good change from my usual apathetic trance.

If you can at all, I'd channel that energy into revision. Read it out loud or find some other way to study that doesn't involve sitting down and reading. Example: I study Macbeth by closing my bedroom door and acting out the important/dramatic scenes. It is SO much fun, especially his soliloquays with the dagger and the doubt and the evil. :P

What exam is it, exactly? Maybe someone will have a good suggestion if we know what the subject is.

English. I'm trying to learn Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell and The Second Coming by WB Yeats.

Well, I guess it depends on how bad it is, but what works for me is tiring myself a little first. I read something unrelated or get into an emotional high through music (I ride it fast, the point is coming down). Once I'm less er, manic, I grab a bite, wash my face and start studying. Studying while tired is bad. Studying while manic is impossible. When the exam is done you'll probably crash, though.

I've tired myself out with a lot of running, jumping about, and exaggerated, panicked gesturing. It's a bit easier to focus.

I usually try to separate the Good stress from the Bad stress

I do my best work under conditions of Good stress. It eliminates the tendency to second guess my self, after thoughts etc. Provides a sense of (false?) self-confidence

Bad stress (source : other people) getting rid of it requires more of a "F... You, 100 years from now who will know the difference " attitude...

I think it is a matter of motivation, if I am internally motivated to Master a situation I often succeed, but if I feel that I'm being pushed or pressured by the outside environment I usually do not respond with my 'best' effort...

Good luck, then.

@Da Blob: she didn't mention stress but a hypomanic episode

Truth, it was a shot inthe dark on my part
but often such episodes are brought on by Stress,
something has to set them off

BTW breathing /relaxation techniques
sometimes are quite effective...

Simply, taking control of one's own breathing for a
short while is often a remarkably
easy solution to a number of problems

Well, a friend talked some focus into me and I managed to get a couple of rough plans done, which served me... sort of well, perhaps. Either way, I got through it.

Glad to hear that, still
I'm sorry I was not of more help.

Why does Tomorrow's crisis
seem so trivial once they're Yesterday's ?
