I am an unintentional lurker. So many things demands my attention day to day, most of them absurd and pointless, that when I get around to checking a forum all I want to do is read the fine thoughts other people have. Even this very post wast started almost 10 hours ago! Anyone else feel like they have this problem?

Let's put it this way, if I say any more than this I lose interest. Also a problem

Oh trust me, I think everyone here has seen worse.

That makes me feel irrationally better.

Its not a lack of interest, not usually, its more interest on whats going on elsewhere. Elsewhere in this case being a constant and constantly illusive place/state of mind I am chasing

Youre better than I am. Your join date is March 2011 and you already have 39 posts. I've joined exactly 1 year before you did, and I only have 37 (at the time of writing this, naturally) .

The internet is no empowerment over shyness for me, I am as reserved online as I am IRL. When I read the forums I feel that most people have covered the standard arguments and dont feel any dire need to contribute. I just enjoy going through some of the more pertinent posts and in my head Im saying 'yeah, I agree with that, yep - i agree with that too. Nope, dont agree with that. Oh, the next guy also disagreed, so now I dont have to.' etc etc.

Forums do take up a lot of time when Im usually trying to get on with something else. Most times, that something else wins tho.

Usually, if I'm reading a thread I have interest in, someone has covered most of what I wanted to state anyway.

Sometimes I DO have something relevant and new to add, so I start to post. Then, I'll either take too long to think about how I want to word what I have to say, worry what I had to say was pointless anyway, and either abort the post or pull it back to some kind of one-liner. It probably makes most of what I post pointless to spite me anyway...

If I feel I've made a sentence with too many commas, and can't find another way to word it, I'll usually delete the paragraph it made in an attempt to avoid punctuation errors. I guess I feel like what I say would be somewhat invalidated by them... "Oh, I guess he can't spend the time to think out his sentence construction, I wonder how hard he thought about what he had to say in the first place?" (Holy crap... Am I Obsessive Compulsive?)

I could post up a storm of wonderful and interesting if I ever let me. (At least that's what I tell myself, all the head shrinks tell me I'm afraid of success.)

Don't speak because you have to say something. Speak because you have something to say.

Nope. I lack the patience for threads I don't want to have input on.

Thats pretty much my take on forums. A thread has about 30 seconds to catch my attention. If it doesn't then I'm gone. If I don't think I'll be able to add any value to the discussion then I'm gone.

I'm bad too. Want to reply to everyone, end up with wall O text. Realize nobody will read. Delete it all and say, "Screw it". LOL I much prefer one on one discussion but since my brother died I haven't felt like talking much to anyone.

I have the same problem. I have started numerous posts on various forums, only to cancel, and then start again, cancel again and so on. It's pretty ridiculous. The anonymity of the internet doesn't seem to help with this much.

I have moments like this. Perhaps it's boredom. I'm not good at forums either. Oh, well.

I tend to avoid threads with a lot of posts because I get tired of reading.

I tend to ignore threads I start because daily activities take so much of my time that I forget.

But I still post anyway.

I post occasionally if the topic interests me or if someone is asking a question that I know the answer to. But that's pretty much true in real life as well. But I post more on forums than I do join in on conversation because I can more easily type my thoughts then just spray them out of my mouth the second they come to mind.

Yep im a lurker :) i rarely post on threads, partly because i like to soak up information and also because usually by the time i get to the thread (im new and going through all the old ones, SO interesting) anything i would have said has usually already been said in one way or another
