Cannot tell if you (Arbitrary Prototype---really cool name by the way) are being sarcastic (about the history section being a good idea)...but anyway, I would agree that History is very ambiguous, yet so is philosophy, and really language, and any of the arts, and many more things that I would nevertheless like to discuss.

I wouldn't want to discuss a topic with others if it were a cut-and-dry, easy to understand topic.

If you weren't sarcastic...I simply agree: endless possiblities. Which is why I felt it worth suggesting.

In the past there haven't been nearly enough history related threads that would justify an additional sub-forum.
Of course you can still discuss historic topics - in the Science sub-forum.

The past is now history. Posting history in the science sub-forum would not only be hindersome to those who came there to learn and speak about science, but also those who wish to post something which has no scientific link (such as it might through archeology) or theological link (as it might if about the history of religion) of historical content…and would like to discuss it for its history (and I suppose philosophy, but as long as you have philosophy lumped with science and theology…and nearly, well, all the threads are about those…it is not feasible to expect people who wish to discuss history to post there). Really, it is as though you wish there to be a category called “Art and Religion” and expect those who wish to discuss Television and Movies to post there while nearly all of the threads already there are about painting and Religion (which will always provoke more discussion, although of a different…texture…than that of history).
Excuse the tangents, pedantic style, and the like, I would go back and edit it…but, um, I’m too lazy.

I've seen 'would' a bit too often on this forum. Even if you would post 5 threads, there was only a temporary need and it is important that there are continually new discussions.

yes...anthile is right. this is generally not applicable to current sorts.
