Hello, my fellow INTPs. As you surely can see, I am new on this forum.
For the longest time I thought I was INTJ with a low preference for judging. I always tested INTJ by different various tests (although, socionics tests usually gave me result INTj, which tends to correlate with, but not limited to, MBTI‘s INTP). After I have read the descriptions of cognitive functions, everything did not become clearer – I identified myself with Ni, partly Te and partly Fi from INTJ cognitive function order list, and with Ti, partly Ne and partly Si from INTP cognitive function stack.
What led me to think I was INTJ is that I always made plans, step by step actions that would lead me towards my goal. I mistaken that with Te. But what made me question my INTJness is that I would have problems following my made plan – I would always make some kind of shortcuts, I would always procrastinate (something that judgers tend not to do, although, everything is possible). What led me to think I was more INTP than INTJ is that I would analyze almost everything what is happening in my environment, making various conclusions for the sake of those conclusions, not for making some kind of “job done” or “result in real world”. That would made me think I had Ti. Then thought my cognitive functions were Ti + Te, which is, of course, nonsense.
Anyway, what led towards my current state of thinking that I am a actually an INTP, albeit with low perceiving preference, hence a bit more well-rounded in planning/procrastinating dichotomy, is a blog post that can be found by googling “How to tell you if you are INTJ or INTP”. Especially this part: “For one thing, school, work and family tend to structure behavior even for individuals whose preference is for more freedom, and under such discipline a P may not identify with test item options like: “My goals are open-ended and subject to change as new information becomes available.”
So, umm… Hi?
