What's the difference between geology and earth sciences? I'm applying to university and what to do geology. I researched the programs offered at these universities to become a geologist, and the choices are either earth sciences or geology. My question is what's the difference between geology and earth sciences?

Geology is the study of the solid earth. You will be studying mostly rocks and the processes that contribute to the earth like volcanoes.

Earth sciences is the broad field of physical sciences related to the earth. Geology, geography, oceanography, meteorology, ect.. Earth sciences seem cool as geography and GIS are really interesting fields that all use computers to analyze data by cartography.
