Ugh, where did that "But" come from? I usually proof-read far more thoroughly, but time.

I'm a bit concerned that I may not be around so much for the next 24. Just going off-game for a while, I have decorating to do and tomorrow I'm meeting someone early am. That's one of the reasons I wanted to think on it this afternoon and then get my thoughts out there.

So, if I'm not mega active until late on Saturday, I'm not lurking - I'm RL-ing.

And that Jenny is an excellent example of why low post count doesn't mean lurking so much. I'm not sure why you need to leave but it's a great help. Making one of those posts before the swap happens is great because it gives us so much more information. Good bucket analogy.

I really think my solid reads will come in once hado does his case (of which he only finds one person suspicious and one person no longer as suspicious... hmm I'm finding more rocks to go with his walls and windows but again he could have some master plan strat{that said a lot of people Jenny things are same as last game think he's town}), Helvate does... something, and Happy posts his thoughts. Oh and when Zerk either is super suspicious or super town. These are the players I'm watching most.

While I agree generally if Jenny is scum she's doing a masterclass at how to play wifom'd town.

Day one particularly is funstrating. It's just words and guesses for the most part but you can pickup things and can catch scum day one. It's more about intention in posting that you can use on the first day. Why are people saying this and how can it help town.

Also if she was mafia she could get away with simply not posting and being another annoying lurker for town. Either way maybe I'm just in awe since this hardly ever happens but it's putting a rock in the opposite scale for me right now.

On a side note I would also like RB and Sinny to be a little more active case/hunting wise. (although more Sinny then RB as I think RB was making cases on me earlier) I'm waiting on everyone else but those are the only two left I haven't really looked into. If I missed things Sinny was doing let me know. You gave a list of reads but now you need to expand on the why's.

If you review my previous game, you will see that I had no agendas on day one, bar trying to prevent a lynch.

I want to be agressive, believe me, but I'm personally not intellectually or emotionally invested in any read right now. Apart from defending my town reads, who remain Cheesums, Helvete and you.

Okay firstly, there's too many lurkers still. Not by post-count, by actual contribution. Gopher still has my FOS but I can't really go down that path until the following four say stuff that means anything to the game:

Happy: he's working apparently. His iPad doesn't work. His phone has low battery. His boss wants him to buy another latte for the 9am meeting. He's got more projects from work this weekend. I predict next he'll probably have a psychotic breakdown :^)

Zerkalo: can't read, because she isn't saying anything that means anything. She's not scummy nor town - she's just arranging assortments of words. Even in her mafia game she had more backbone than this, so I wonder: why is she playing so safe if she's Town. She would have even less to worry about no?

Bronto: Shadow Cart indeed.

Helvete: not contributing, doesn't seem to respond to anyone's questions but asks questions about other people's questions to make it look like he's participating to the atmosphere of questions (or something).

I'm still happy to lynch a lurker. Last game, if we'd lynched Ruminator, ESC or Artsu (perennial lurkers of Day 1) early game instead of Cheeseums I'm sure it would have turned out better for Town. It drained a significant amount of mental energy to constantly be wondering about the continued silence of players and their non-contribution, and since I could never get a read I kept defaulting back to Ruminator - who, fucking amazingly actually flipped Green. And ESC's Day 1 silence made me super suspicious as well, which made it easy to start tunneling the wrong target.

So at this point I'll lynch a lurker, if only to have my scumhunting filters free of the unneeded variables that come with having lurkers - and because it makes sense for one of the mafia to be a lurker. Even with extra pressure on lurkers, it's a sound strategy to play regardless. In perusing through various games on mafia sites, it's not a small number of them in which I've observed mafia frequently having, "extra-curricular work/study activities" at rather convenient times - Puffy and Zerkalo did it all last game as well.

Puffy: oh whoops have to go to work for the next 27 hours so can't help out until just before lynching deadline kthxbai :^)

As of me posting this there's about 40 hours until Day end. I'll present my case within the next 12 and that still leaves close to 30 hours for people to decide on lynching lurkers vs. active cases or whatever.

When you do go down that path, the questions I want answered are, why my motivations (or whoever you settle on) are scum motivations and why I'm your highest read. If you can answer that adequately I'll be amazed. Mostly because I know it's entirely wifom or bias because I know I'm town however even from your perspective hopefully when you get around to analyzing it you should see that. Basically all I ask is you analyze it properly and come to your own conclusions. Unless you're scum in which case die in a fire and make an awful case so we can lynch you kthxbai.

Just had a nasty night where the DM found out Greg's weight and wants to cut his physical attributes. I've been fast-talking trying to keep my stats all night. I've been trying to increase his weight for months, and reached 440 pounds, while also being the fastest runner in the party and backflipping in every which direction. Put me in a hard spot where I had to choose whether I had the dexterity to throw the rope to save my friend, or the weight to sit on it and hold it fast, but not both. What an asshole.

Okay, since people have asked me to stick around (which I didn't expect) -- the deal is that my level of responsibility kicked up elsewhere forum-wise and i suddenly have a bunch of tasks (exec level, effectively -- like staff assessing and hiring) to deal with ASAP, so I'm finding it REALLLLLY hard to be totally invested in two ongoing things at once.

I hate doing things half-assed, even if it is just a game. And it confuses people if you read the absence of a player as something different than it is, obviously. Plus Hado and company can be pretty intimidating with their level of investment, I end feeling like I gotta match it... but I just can't right now.

To make it worse, the way Day 1 timed, I will be away at family concerts / events for 12 of the last 15 hours of Day 1 (barring an early lynch, which doesn't seem probable honestly). And day 1 ends at 3am for me, wheee. So I was just feeling like this was a crap time to try to play this.

Obviously my responsibilities elsewhere aren't going away. I can stay and just do my best with less activity than I hoped, or I can spring early and let someone else with more time be there to help out which seemed fairer to everyone.

Then again, I never expected Zerk to beg.

I CAN'T SLEEP okay maybe if I make this post I'll stop thinking about it.

I want Jenny to stay. Mainly because first lynch is always kinda fluffy anyway so as long as we don't kill a active town so it's fine if you aren't here so much. You could even not vote if you're worried as we should still out number the scum team. Secondly her whole thought process and this situation just reeks of town. Not wanting to let down the town. Thinking she won't be active enough... Mafia would just use this as an excuse to not post. Also you don't need to post like us we are just way to into it. Just be honest and open and legit and if you're town it'll work out.

Second thing and this is kinda meta. But I don't think QT would have forgotten to give mafia their QT. Regarding the Zerk thing at the start. Now that's not very strong and it's still a possibility but that seems like one of the things. Then again Atsuz was the last to confirm last game so it's not like the mafia get any extra waiting for people to confirm.

Anyway now that's out the way I'll go to bed. Let me know your thoughts.

I'm working 7+ hour days, finals week just ended so I actually have a social life of people randomly showing up at my house with drugs and alcohol, and I'm supposed to move out of my place in less than a week and I'm so behind on packing much less the multiple 3 hour drives I'm going to have to make to actually move all my shit.

Yes, I have some free time here and there, but in that free time I'm just exhausted and not interested in playing a game which continues to require my absolute mental engagement. At this point my silence and emotional disinterest are only going to cause more suspicion and lurker paranoia which is going to make it harder for everyone.

Maybe in a couple/few days I'll be more capable of engaging, but the gameday will be over by then and all I'd have done up to then is be a burden to everyone.

You seem like you wouldn't really just screw everyone over by being mafia, writing that explanation above, and leaving us dry. That would probably really make you feel horrible, to the point where you wouldn't do it. You'll probably stay low on my suspicion list.

Ok. Earlier I PM'ed QT to let him know to cancel my replacement, unless he already found one for me. (I don't know if there are rules about requesting, then canceling, a replacement -- but I'm willing to abide by whatever he says about that. he can decide whether I stay or go. Besides, now maybe he needs one for Cheeseums? We're dropping like flies... gaaak!)

Basically my current strategy is just to read the thread, post responses, and then logout from INTPforum afterwards, then check back a few hours later. That way I'm not tempted to flip back and forth. I tried that this afternoon and was able to be productive doing the other things I had to do. It all sounds stupid, I know, but apparently not having stuff immediately accessible helps me a lot with my focus.

And yeah, I plan to vote regardless, if I have a viable target. It's just I suspect you guys will do the vote before I get home at midnight, even if game close isn't until 3am here. If I'm lucky, I might be able to cell phone in for a moment, but I'll be with my kids for the evening, so ... we'll see.

Also... this thread is starting to sound like Support Group hell with all the apologies. But seriously cheesums, as far as your situation goes, I obviously get it (been there, doing it right now with the emotions). Hope you stay well regardless and your move goes okay. @Urak: Why don't you think Sinny is herself? I kind of chalked it up to either the outcome of the last game or... well, the doobie doobie doobie.

Thirteen sounds like a lot until you look at the list. Easy pickings would be Bronto and PMJ, if punishing play style, but there's no way to gauge Bronto and PMJ has a decent shot of being town at this stage. Everyone's put in some substantial input now, aside from Happy or Helvete, so those are the two I'm concerned about most.

Unfortunately, this first round kind of sucks. I've been looking for anyone that makes strange conclusions, goes after people for weird reasons, and seems to have anti-town motivations. But because there is no voting history or reasoning for voting, mafia I think have just blended in as town.

I think Helvete need to explain themselves to alleviate suspicions.
Looks like Cheeseums won't be doing any of that.
Jenny seems to have verified why she was inconsistent at the beginning, which does follow her posting style on the forum.
Happy just needs to put some of his cards on the table; though I think he did the same thing as Town last game.

And of course, if more than one person then claims to be Cop, they are all mafia except one. What do you all think about this in the first round?

Sinny doesn't seem like a person who easily changes. She sticks to her guns, and has consistently done so since she joined INTPf. Right up to the point of this game, where instead of going wild and trying to bring someone down, she now is all just,

"meh, yeah, maybe, I guess I could be suspicious, I'll just point...haha....point....blah"

It's hard to be suspicious, when there's nothing to be suspicious of.

Bronto has given us nothing. Thus it's just a lucky chance vote. Pmj has finally made up, and provided just as much content as the more active players. He's made just as much suspicious comments as the rest of us.

Then there's zerk, who I'm trying to interrogate and she completely ignores it. Which is fine if she doesn't care about impressing me any, but I hope this concerns everyone else. I'm not going after her because she was mafia last game, what I'm trying to say is that's completely irrelevant. Being a baddie last game has nothing to do with what she could be in this game.

I'm going after her because she does weird things that I wouldn't do as town. But I've recently thought that most importantly, she 's the only one playing right now who actually does have experience with playing (specifically*) INTPf-Mafia as mafia.

(* not family-mafia, or mental-health-board-mafia, or StarCraft-Mafia, or werewolf, etc, but the special class and dynamics of INTPf-mafia)

Last game, hado and redbaron were the top most active players, and this game it was becoming very similar. Therefore, she has really valuable insight she could share as town as to what a mafia member could be thinking in this specific type of game. If she could convince me by giving all of us what we could be looking for, (I want to be convinced), then maybe I'll loosen my grip on her.

I believe there's a day and a half remaining, and I'm not sure how long it would take us to get a consensus on who we are voting for. I'd like to get this thing with zerk out of the way before we all try going for a majority lynch.

i was testing waters with my last vote
i think urakro has set himself up in a way that could make him an easily opportunistic vote
basically everything he's done can be interpreted as both mafia and town
so i wanted to see if someone would join me if i conveniently lays the foundations for an opportunistic vote
im just going to be honest now and say i was testing sinny and cheese as i had a hunch atleast one of them would join
but im retracting all of that, and laying this out in the open, before i let it sit out for a decent period of time, because looking back...i thought that up in a rush and i now think i set up useless bait that would not have generated meaningful results atleast not this early in the game so yeah herp derp

Zerk, how can my actions not be town orientated? How could anything I be doing actually help mafia? If I was mafia, I really must have deluded myself in thinking I was a vanilla townie. Out of all 13 players, how in hell did I become the most suspicious?

I've read your comment that you aren't putting much effort into this game, and I am considering that.

what are you expecting on day 1? how can anyone possibly look for-sure town at this stage? actually looking for sure town on day 1 is what a mafia would be going for anyway

You're right, no-one's a mind-reader and thus there shouldn't be any for-sure town reads.

But I am going to be adamant that people really should try to convince people they are town. There is absolutely no reason to try to pretend to be mafia.

So when I say you didn't make much effort to claim as town, I mean that it seems you're coming off as shady, and hoping people just except that. Like,

"I'm not going to try to be town, because no one is going to believe me anyways. It's day 1 and you can't expect anything on day 1"

I was tunnelling gopher. I was really getting on gopher's case, making accusations and assumptions, but gopher was able to at least give me reasonable doubt for my suspicions against him.

So I openly stated that i'm done questioning gopher, he's off my top suspicions.

Attention Town
Town does have a Trump card though to at least get rid of some of the ambiguity of the first round - a doc. The cop can out themselves (while the rest of Town agree not to falsify as Cop) and the cop can save them at night. This gives Town someone to rally behind that actually knows who is Town or not. And of course, if more than one person then claims to be Cop, they are all mafia except one. What do you all think about this in the first round?

Um no, (You know I almost started analyzing viability until I re-read the op) mafia has a role-blocker. Much better to go through the day get a lynch see the nk and hopefully get a cop read first at least. Two would be optimal. I mean sure if the cop was about to get lynched you could argue for it otherwise it's probably a bad idea.

Idk I get the feeling despite how inactive he is a lot of people have in a sense... counter set him up for a lynch. Given vague reason's why it's a bad idea. It's hard to lynch mafia because they work against it and while the points might be correct the fact a lurker has so much fluffy support almost makes me think he's actually mafia.
