Are there any particularly good or diabolically bad brands to avoid, esp. if you're a linux user?

U3 only works on Windows (and possibly Wine), so a U3 drive will act pretty much like a regular flash drive on Linux. Aside from that, flash drive quality should be OS-independent.

2nd what Jesin said. I have a U3 cruzer micro, but I stripped the U3 off, because it's gay. (and annoying, and tedious, and...) It's fairly high quality, I've used it in both linux and windows.

My U3 killed itself... I'm not sure how or why. Wisp said that it was fried or something.

I agree with wisp, i use an 8GB cruzer micro that has the U3 taken off of it. Relatively inexpensive, and pretty durable (mine went through the washing machine).

Mine's gone through the washer, at least 3 times...

Sounds pretty indestructible.

Thanks for the comments. I just hate choosing between so many things making the same sales pitch.

my cruzer micro has survived the laundry numerous times and apparently you can drive a car over the titanium one...

oh and thanks for using "gay" in place of "undesirable" I mean WTF, does U3 make sexual advances towards other software of its gender?

I find it slightly crass to discuss specifics but not being a salaried employee it depends on how hard I feel like working, which suits me down to the ground. Suffice it to say I don't have to work particularly hard in order to keep off the streets, so to speak.

It must be a fun, interesting job.

It would seem all jobs have their pros and cons and this is no exception... I'm very much a fish out of water in this profession but my unique processes seem to have landed me in an enviable position fairly early in my career.

I would not only think luck/chance is the reason for you gaining the position.

I dysfunctionally require low self esteem in order to drive myself.

Could you imagine Stephen Hawking have low self-esteem with his intellect? Is he a Professor through luck?

There are many talented singers entering the entertainment industry. Not every one is recognized.
Obviously... however that does not suit my black and white distorted introverted world view.

It's very sweet what you're doing btw, thank you! *hug*
Seriously... I need help to keep my eyes open and am not getting it from the people around me right now.

Regardless of your intention, this conversation is reminding me there's a bit of light in the proverbial tunnel, which is rather timely as I was beginning to forget. So...thanks!
