My wife and kids went out of town. Decided to drink just a little. took Thaklaar's recommendation and got some Shiner Bock Helles Lager. Good stuff!. Also tried Samuel Adams. Also, very good.

My posts may get more and more incoherent (more so than usual) as the evening goes on, or they may just stop suddenly. Just so you know.

Blue Moon Belgian White wheat ale is good, and I also like Pyramid Apricot Ale. If I am on a budget, I drink Hamms or Corona. The Hamms is good with V8 juice and the Corona is good with a thick slice of lime.

Don't like beer. Cider, Red Wine and Calvados.

Home-made beers that have not stopped fermenting and not too strong and not too weak can be drinkable.

So recently we again had funny discussions about beer. One person argued that the local beer of where we study would be good, and the others (verbally) bashed at him because they think that this beer is absolutely crap. That went on for hours. At some point one asked me (who, as is known, doesn'tdrink beer) to compare that beer with one of his home region, which he had there too. So i tasted, and had to agree that the local beer really doesn't taste, while the other one is okay. That of course brought me angry comments from the one defending the local beer. :D T'was fun...

I'd love to add to this, but sadly I don't drink.

Not on some moral pretense, I just don't see any attraction in it... and technically I'm still too young.:)

Don't all Irish males drink? I heard that, as babies, you are given whiskey instead of milk. Imagine that! Whiskey in the bottle! Is this true?

I gave up drinking some time ago, like maybe eight years ago, as it was taking up too much of my time.

But at that time my preferred beer was Moosehead. It is quite distinctive and robust and unpretentious. You would not, for instance, ever find it served in a cocktail bar. It has an excellent smell, makes you feel good just to crack open a bottle and savor the aroma.

When I was a kid we had a variety of Philadelphia beers to buy illegally, Ortliebs and Schlitz and Red Cap Ale, which tasted, oddly enough, like it had unsweetened chocolate in it. Also something called Rhinegold, and the old standbys were Millers, Black Label and Budweiser. Can't get the first ones any more, and can't stand the last three, they seem wimpy or something, last time I was served one as a guest many years ago.

Beer is nasty, just like SlyGuy's new avatar. May I ask what was wrong with Decaf's suggestion?

Little Creatures Pale Ale, a boutique beer from Fremantle Western Australia. Beautiful, liquid gold.

Boulevard What is the finest beer in the land, but you can only get it in the plains states.

Around here I'm a big fan of Fat Tire and Blue Moon.

erdinger (the weiss not the kristal) is my fave at the moment, it's got a very light, honey flavour.
the belgians also make liquid brilliance such as leffe, duvel and chimay, though i don't think i'd drink them every weekend.

My granduncle worked at the Erdinger brewerey. Nice beer.

I would consider myself as a beer geek. Oddly enough, I rarely drink beer these days.

My favourites:

Franziskaner Salvator
Schwarzer Abt
Stephanus Bräu
Erdinger Doppelpock
Staropramen Granát
