Are ENFP attention whores? Or do they just attract attention?
This girl I know has a brother, whom I have met ~three times, and she said the things he does attracts attention but he can live without it. I can sort of vouch for this from what I've seen.

However, I have a friend and he seems to be a combination of both with a bit more focus on the craving attention part. People love him, he's inspiring, he knows what to say to them so said person thinks he's their best friend - it's difficult to tell if he means it or not ever since I found out he's a textbook ENFP (once you know too much about a type and start applying it to real life things get kinda creepy, from my own experience). Sometimes when I talk to a person the ENFP will barge into the conversation and ask them something so he can be the center of attention. It seems like he notices me talking to someone and thinks all the shine must be on him, so he takes action.

So... I'm not sure what I wanted to get out of this, I guess I just needed to get some thoughts out.

I have the feeling that almost all EF types crave attention and social contact, especially confirmation of their ... identity (?) very badly. Then again, that might just be me.

It depends on their level of maturity. Immature = attention whore, but a mature ENFP uses similar techniques to guide the conversation/interaction in a specific direction and make a worthy contribution vs passive-aggressive "look at me!" bullshit.

I think you mean ExFJ, because they have Fe as their first function. ExFPs have Ne as their first function.

It's a useful skill..the ability to tune in to people, even multiple ones and capture the mood of an audience(think news stories). But yeah in undeveloped people you will get the immature stuff.

I kind of agree with pjoa09, except the way some people do it are more shameless and shrewd than others.

I get a little E for brief moments because a) I can't stand someone who is obviously wrong ranting on about how they are right so I speak up or b) I get drunk and forget that I don't want people knowing what I think of them.

My E moments are followed by dread of having to further enunciate or explain why I let my head stick above the muted crowd. I had previously thought that other people regretted their E moments as well, and was confused when certain acquaintances followed up E moments with more E moments.

That's just me displaying how little I know about all this shit at the present moment. But sometimes we act in a way that makes us despise ourselves... the next morning.

I'm quite narcissistic on the sly, but if you met me in person you'd be very unlikely to pick up on it. I don't necessarily crave attention, but I do enjoy discussing myself / how others perceive me.

The 'quest for self', I assume.

Oh, and I'm probably an ENFP.

THEY GOT THE "E" lol. You make it sound like a disease.

On the other hand, I LIKE to be heard when I talk. It's just that there's not a lot worth saying that needs saying. Extraverts just talk because they're not good at talking in their heads :P

If psychologists can name anything that slightly deviates from the norm a 'personality disorder', i'm sure that on a forum where the norm is INTP, extraverts could be considered one aswell .

Extraversion disorder. Sounds worse than syfilis to me.

WELL ITS ABOUT TIME THEY STOP CALLING SOCIAL ANXIETY A DISORDER.

No but really extroverts are stricken with contemplation anxiety. Check out ENFPs personality description. Known to have dark thoughts if left alone. That little fucker will kill him/herself if he/she sits alone for too long. What's up with that?

I just masturbate.

Im tired of introversion being seen as a PROBLEM as well. I describe it as acceptable racism. Everything is being set up for extraverts. From extra marks in class to being diagnosed with social anxiety disorder if you like being alone / being quiet.

Wouldn't that preference be schizoid personality disorder and not SAD per se?

IMO this is because social extroversion and Extraverts are publicly observable. Whereas social introverts are less vocal and visible, so Introverts suffer from that and seem nonexistent to the extroverted(public) sphere of reality, especially so for the Introverted Intuitives.
