Hello everyone.
This community is insanely perfect. So far I've noticed that nearly everyone on here is very capable of understanding and creating logical arguments (ie. your not all driven by emotion like in most forums now-a-days). Also, it seems that most of you are very open minded to new ideas and concepts that can be backed up with deductive logic. This is a huge plus for me, because I'm pretty much incapable of debating with people that become blinded by emotion or worse, become unchangeable in their beliefs.

So really I just wanted to say hello and thanks. This forum has already helped me to be more at ease with my INTPness (I've never met another INTP as far as I know), and I'm sure that the constructive arguments on here will benefit me in other ways for a long time to come.

You guys/gals are great :).

Welcome, bborps, nice to have you here. No, really, I mean it. Since you joined, you seem to have been contributing to the discussions here as well as anybody.

Seems that lots of people here became a part of the community quite fast. Heck, my account is only a week older than yours (it's been 14 days since I joined), and I'm already welcoming people.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. That accounts for a good chunk of the large amounts of awesome contained in this forum.

Also, it seems that most of you are very open minded to new ideas and concepts that can be backed up with deductive logic.

Yup, lots of open mindedness here, too. On that note, I recommend the following books:
Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein
Island by Aldous Huxley
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

I disagree with Huxley on some points, especially some of the things he said in Island, and of these three I'd say my favorite was Stranger in a Strange Land, but all three books are excellent food for thought. Anyone on these forums who has not read them should do so.

I've really noticed this as well. Since my first post I've felt like I could relate to every individual on the forum in very deep ways. Its rare for me to get to talk to people that view the world in the same basic way that I do (like how information is taken in, etc).
Conversations on here feel so natural and at ease. Its like we're each members of one big family and feel perfectly relaxed with one another's presences.

On most forums my (sometimes) long winded detailed responses are completely ignored 99% of the time, or people take one point I made and pull it out of context because it sounds too cruel/silly and they have an emotional reaction to it.
I've liked it here so far because when people have replied to my posts they actually knew exactly why they agreed or didn't agree, and they have told me in exacting logic why they thought I was wrong or right. The majority of internet goers just don't care enough to do that.

Hmm, I just looked each up.
I personally don't really like to read about psychedelics/drug use (I've had quite a bit of firsthand experience and don't enjoy reading about the delusions they induce), but I'll definitely look into Stranger in a Strange Land. I haven't yet read a science fiction book I haven't liked.

Yes, the thing about the psychedelic drugs was one thing I disagreed with. Strong argument against those: Occam's razor. Which is more likely: that they actually bring profound enlightenment, or that they cause a feeling of profound enlightenment?

I didn't actually like Island all that much, but it has a few interesting things to say, and when you compare it to Brave New World, it's almost scary how much Huxley's utopia has in common with his dystopia.

Some of the concepts in Stranger in a Strange Land are similar to those in Island, but they're presented better. Unlike Island, Stranger actually has something recognizable as a plot, and the characters are more developed.

I've always liked sci-fi stories too, but I'm not quite sure why. For some reason, sci-fi stories tend to have other things in common besides a mixture of science and fiction.

Also, I noticed that parts of Isaac Asimov's Foundation's Edge, and even more so, Foundation and Earth, show some of the same ideas as Stranger and Island. Ahh, yes, the Foundation series, another thing I'd recommend. Actually, I'll expand that to "anything by Isaac Asimov".

Welcome to the forums. I'd kick you out of first place in the arcade, but I'm too busy this week (and probably for a long time afterwards). :P
