But, But, I Like the Discovery Channel and National Geographic:D.

And to answer you question I have watched porn before. Besides the obvious sexual arousal I find that I have a distaste for porn in general.

It isn't intellectually stimulating in any way. However, when I was in college and Single I found is was an easy and fast way for me to release my sexual frustration. So that I could move on to other topics that I was more interested in.

I am not proud of having watch porn though I feel I would be hypocritical if I was not honest about making a habit out of watching it at one time in my life.

Are you talking native culture porn or animal porn? (Wow!)

I watch porn on occasion, but have trouble finding anything interesting. Or I totally forget about sex. I think I'd have a higher drive if I'd be with someone, as that would naturally keep it on my mind and also, uh, give me something to react to.

Yes

What sort of porn do you like?
Anything that interests me. Humans are such odd things. I don't understand this need/obsession for sex. Did you know that some people are turned on by balloons?!?

Have you a special preference or is anything fine?
If I wanted to be turn on...I would read a naughty story instead
If I want to be amused or study humans in all their facets....anything weird/odd/different.

I'm trying to quit. I'm a porn addict.

I like some pretty messed up things. It's weird, because the thought of these things are gross to me, but when I'm in the mode. I used to be able to watch normal stuff, but now, if it isn't weird or taboo it's not worth my time. Hentai is still pretty useful, though.
Have you a special preference or is anything fine?

Do you watch porn & why/if we do

Alright. I would like to address this issue for two reasons.
1. It's a huge commercial industry
2. It's intellectually stimulating
3. I forgot three, but I said only two anyway.:D

Porn is a subset of sex and sex is an even more huge topic. I think I will start with sex, not porn.

If one has a itch, what's wrong with scratching it? Well for one thing the itch is under the covers ... easily distracted from just how to scratch it. One can go from all sorts of social romantic and arbitrarily seemingly strange displaced motives to the purely physical. Neither alone explains as both are different dimensions (variables).

When I look at porn I'm .going to theorize there is an unconscious desire to fertilize to start with (for heterosexuals). So if the porn theme is too far from an agreeable fertilization, one will look askance at it. If the porn is your cup of tea, you will go for it. It's like the difference between an appealing movie and a poor one.

Now the reality of porn is it doesn't fertilize (unless you are watching with a partner). But the desire remains. That can explain why one moves on to different porn. It's like eating clay. Clay is not nourishing enough so one is forced onto different food.

I have more thoughts, but I forgot them for now. Wait. I forgot homosexuality. Part of sex is play. Let's go for play, not fertilization on this one.

Questions?

P.S. I was gone to do taxes. But that's an excuse.

Personally, porn bores me to tears. It does bother me that there's a massive underground porn culture of which I'm completely oblivious, but I just can't be arsed to watch it. Mindnumbingly boring.

Modern males may have well been bottle-fed on porn. The implications are interesting and wide in scope. Porn has has certainly increased the popularity of anal sex and shaved genitalia, if nothing else. However a consistent and vigorous porn habit is not healthy and that's simple fact. I would be outright fearful of the effects of porn were I male. I'd abstain completely. Guys these days may well be wanking themselves into mental and sexual impotence.

Interesting tidbit; despite a great deal of porn outright depicting rape and various male power fantasies, access to porn is linked to a reduction in sexual crime. Go figure.

I have to really be in the right mood to watch porn, otherwise I find it boring and actually the opposite of arousing. Something about the 'forced' way in which people interact just turns me off.

I get much more arousal out of being with someone who I feel an emotional or intellectual connection with. Even just thinking about that person is more arousing than watching porn. I personally think this is healthier overall.

I read porn, there's a trade off between immersion and effort with different kinds of porn, the most immersive and effort intensive is just using one's own imagination and I think I'm a lot less imaginative than I used to be, because I read, which is still using my imagination but the book does all the creative heavy lifting for me. Then there's visual media, still images which require very little imagination and video which requires none at all, In which case I'm usually too inebriated to get off anyway.

Interesting tidbit; despite a great deal of porn outright depicting rape and various male power fantasies, access to porn is linked to a reduction in sexual crime. Go figure.
@Adaire
The male libido is different to yours, for women reproduction is about finding quality mates, for males it's a matter of quantity, and in an increasingly male world with the not uncommon occurrence of several women pursuing the same guy there's a significant number of guys who just aren't getting any. This is particularly a problem in India where abominable gender selective practices have lead to a low female to male ratio and as civilised human beings though we may have certain ideas of how people should behave, natural selection couldn't care less, selective pressure in any species will make males take bigger risks and humans are animals like any other.

I'm not defending rapists, I'm talking numbers, with a bad female/male ratio and time the probability of someone somewhere doing something stupid get's ever higher, so I think suggesting complete abstinence is very immature, indeed dangerous. People have needs as hardwired into them as every other biological need, now masturbation may not be a pleasant topic but it's a necessary fact of the modern world that men require an outlet for their impulses, an outlet masturbation provides.

There should be a serious discussion about pornography, the kinds of it, the amount of it, the ease of access to it, and what constitutes an appropriate use of it, but if we are to have that discussion then we need to be mature about it and respectful of our differences.

^I'm aware of most that.

I wasn't really making any substantial claims about male sexuality. I don't relate to monogamous heterosexuals in general. You're all sexual aliens to me. Evolutionary psych is so often called upon to serve beloved preconceptions. Everyone has an argument from evolution to serve their pet cause these days. Sorry, digressing.

As far as a reduction in violent sexual crime.... I think that has more to do with laziness, risk, and convenience. I'm not remarking on 'male' attributes. It's just funny to see mundane human foilables having a positive impact. Porn is simply a lot more convenient than wooing or raping and carries less risk than either.

Constantly being in the sexual overdrive that porn so easily provides is not healthy. Not even mentioning the unconscious distortions it creates en masse. I suppose a food comparison is apt. People need to eat to survive. Just because you need to eat, that doesn't mean fast food is healthy. That's what porn is, an unhealthy sexual substitute. It's subsistence and it's unsatisfying. Yet just like fast food, people come to desire and indulge it more than the real thing. If you recognize the need to eat healthy, then the need for healthy sex should be equally apparent.

Porn is pretty much an endemic addiction among young males in modern society. That said... I don't really care. It's certainly not my problem. Perhaps it could be solved with sexual therapists with a more... 'hands on' approach. I don't see why it shouldn't be a respected, highly trained profession. There's definitely a dire need for it.

Still dosen't solve the supply and demand issue, outside the US prostitution is more accepted but such "therapy" certainly isn't something the average young adult male can afford, would you propose government funding to bring the cost down? It's not particularly safe either.

A healthy substitute would be ideal but what could that be?

I am practically addicted to porn. See porn, dick in hand, alone, and it gets messy. I have worked on my art of searching the right material. There are just some parts that are just plain .gif quality repetitive.

Sometimes imagination.

I used to have hour long boners while reading mildly erotic material too.

It's bad though, prevents me from trying to get the real deal. I am pretty sure if I had something real I'd deal with that way more often. Maybe too often.

I'm not really saying there is a solution, that was simply an ideal scenario. Although I wouldn't equate a sexual therapist with a prostitute. Heh. You could even make it volunteer work for the good of the community.

When virtual/augmented reality porn comes out those in your demographic will either have to adapt or fade into wanking obscurity. Further into the future... well you're not naive cog; where do you think the greatest demand for human-like robots and AIs is going to come from? Or maybe you anticipate it.

Do you feel like you're a slave to your sexuality?
Most men and women seem like they are.

Okay *presents a clipboard & pen* would you like to volunteer?

I do, though I doubt wiping out the human race will be that easy.
Not that it'll stop me trying :D

I wouldn't think so but how do you define that?

*ponders for a while*
I did pay an unreasonable amount of money to send a message to someone on a dating site recently, that was rather pathetic and I know I wouldn't have paid it just for the opportunity to talk to someone interesting, I don't even bother looking at the matches that are overseas, but I seriously don't see anything more coming of it, so... I guess I just want someone to talk to who ticks enough of the boxes that I can delude myself into thinking it might go somewhere, just to get the carpe diem monkey of my back.

Not exactly the same as being enslaved by my sexuality but it's in the same vein I guess.

I was talking about the inevitble sexual exploitation of such constructs.
Sexual slavery is already a booming trade.

I feel like I'm in a similar boat. I think it's funny how the day this topic popped up is the day I'v decided to make attempt number 10 at quitting porn.

There are some religious reasons for me quitting, but most effective ones at getting me to want to quit are the practical. The lack of motivation. The hours wasted, and I mean hours. The physical effects it's had on my male parts.

The link I posted in my other post has some pretty good information on this topic.

I've tried, but don't like it. I've seen girls I thought were attractive and downloaded porn videos, only to be disgusted by the gross things they end up doing. And there's little to no romantic connection involved, which takes most of the fun out of it. :(

And it probably doesn't help that my fantasies involve stuff that women usually find romantic or it involves me imagining myself as a woman having sex with a man or woman. The few porn I'd then actually enjoy, I also find degrading/weird/fetishistic/strange and can't stand it (sissy porn). Or I'll look through gay porn and find something that feeds into my gay fantasies and enjoy that. But gay porn is generally just as bad as heterosexual porn and it's very hard to find stuff that isn't too gross and somewhat romantic.

Erotic stories/novels can be incredibly romantic and hot however, especially MtoF transgender ones where a female encourages and enjoys the transgender behavior. The thought of being a woman's submissive transsexual lover also really turns me on for some reason, something porn can't cater too. :)

^yeah you said it right there. Porn can't do much for you because you fantasize outside the bounds of society's standard sex fetishes (and that's saying something given they are constantly expanding). I don't know whether to pity* or admire you for this.

Also you'll be scarred for life, seriously don't go there.

I recommend is the book "Nymph: The Singularity" by J.E. Lansing, you can get it on kindle, aside from the steamy bits the story is above average and some of the characters are really interesting, although the first "steamy bit" was hard to read, you'll find out why.

I used to watch it like once a week but I quit. It is boring and is not good for psyche. I even started dreaming how I would do that and this to my girlfriend which was porn fault. So I quit and never came back. It is easy and I have never missed that crap.

Also it clears thinking a lot.

Porn is tits.

Do you watch porn?
Do I ever!

What sort of porn do you like?
Anal, Bondage, and also a bunch of weird shit that can't happen or if it did I'd not think it sexy at all, but I think my Thanatos has it's hands in my libido.

Have you a special preference or is anything fine?
I have a very specific preference.

btw does watching 5 mins of a porn movie because it contains a hot chick count, or do you have to sit and absorb the story arc and buy into the whole thing for it to count as watching porn?

Nobody pays attention to the story unless it's so bad it's good.
