Deus Ex's plot was amazing. I especially loved the ending where we are given three choices to determine the fate of the world. For some reason I can't remember, I opted to integrate with the Helios AI.

Deus Ex is one of my top favorite pc games ever. It reminds me a lot of William Gibson's "Virtual Light"

I played less then an hour of that game.

It's alright, but I was playing it on PC, and I dont like playing shooters (or most games) on PC

One of the most engrossing plots ever conceived in a video game.

It feels sort of dated, but for a game that's almost nine years old it's aged remarkably well.

I'm also appalled that some of you seem to have never played through it, lol.

I *still* play it every once in awhile, and the immersive atmosphere of the game still surpasses most modern titles imo, even though the mechanics of the game are a little out of date. It uses the old Unreal engine, I think.

If you haven't played it, I would describe it as a sort of a shooter/rpg in the same vein as STALKER: Shadows of Chernobyl, plus a crazy da Vinci Code style conspiracy plot that gets you hooked faster than crack.

Do yourself a favor and dl it. It's like $10 on steam, or you can acquire it elsewhere if you're too cheap.

I downloaded it and got it to work instantly. Great game though I suck badly at it. I'm finding it incredibly immersive.

There are some good mods out for it now. The one that stands out though is "The Nameless Mod." Simply outstanding, it took them seven years to make and it is just about as good (better in some ways) as Deus Ex. The premise is that you're on a forum(killing is like banning, infolink is a PM) which sounds weird but actually works pretty well. Plus you get molotov cocktails.

Deus Ex turned 10 years old this month. Ten years and I haven't played a game that has matched it yet. Maybe I haven't played enough games.

Here's a link to podcast where some guys talk about it for an hour and a half(wow, that sounds very boring):

I liked when they were discussing moral choices in games and life. It's entertaining if you have played(preferably at least twice:)) and enjoy the game.

My mind got muddled about what was happening because I only played the game every few weeks. Now its broken, and I was probably 3/4 through the game.

Lost in my thoughts
Deus Ex is a great game - I can't wait for the third one to come out (and it looks amazing, if the trailers are any indication). I've got to second the support for TNM - the sheer amount of work that was put into that mod is pretty mind boggling (although I didn't like the level design as much as the original).

On a side note, Alpha Protocol plays pretty much like a modern Deus Ex (plus more variety in the dialogue choices) - if you liked Deus Ex, I recommend Alpha Protocol.

On a slightly related note, my steam username is Deus ex Machina. (I chose this before I found Deus Ex.)

Deus Ex is the only game where I was able to commit an infanticide (end of 2nd level if I remember correctly). I beat up the kid with my police stick and maced the crapped out of him. Once the deed was done, I threw his dead body into the water. This is the cherry on the cake that is this amazing game to me.
