I am actually like that, people seriously don't care what I think or say. It's a little upsetting.

Well do you care what others say? I personally don't so it's not fair for me to expect others to listen to me.

I'm arguing with a delusional one right now in another thread on this forum, concerning happiness. xD

I have to say I agree, it's very well without our realm.

No-one understands me. Which I'm fine with, until someone starts getting annoyed at something they perceived me doing, which I didn't. Damn Jamie and his damn A-level education, worth nothing, thinking I'm being patronizing, when it's really him who's being patronizing... ass.

Sometimes invisibility is a good thing. As a journalist...

I love my invisibility! It was a great tool in first year university to avoiding the hazing rituals. And I coasted though high school with none of the abuse some other geeks got.

I have noticed that the invisibility cloak does not work on children. In the context of family get-togethers and parties, they seem oddly attracted to it. Maybe it is because I am the one with no conversation.[/FONT]

Maybe we're all being paranoid and reading patterns where there are coincidences.

Well, weigh the chances. Nobody constantly draws attention from everybody. There have to be at least a few slip-ups in the whole thing, surely.

i am hardly invisible.... i've always been very vocal in setting things right although to be honest i cringe before and after. but if there's something that needs to be addressed i force myself to or it'll nag me to death.

in terms of physical appearance i doubt i'm invisible. i'm quite noticeable. but i do change my look every now and then to avoid being recognised... i dont know why lol.

I am invisible. Most interestingly, it is easier to be invisible the more people there are. Everyone is so busy you just get lost. You become noise. And then just sit silently. Scheming :phear:.

Ditto for me, I'm often invisible ... I detach from surroundings and observe them, usually without being noticed by others.

I do the same. I just cut my hair from about 20 inches to about 3. I think half the people I knew took at least 15 seconds to realize who I was.

Same! I honestly sometimes feel like I have insane ninja powers. :D

Precisely! And what's with that stupid idea that you always have to say hi, or nod, or something - when you walk pass someone in a corridor. The awkwardness drives me crazy!

My tongue is sharp, my mental tongue more so. I wish people understood how much effort I make to tone my thoughts down so i don't hurt their precious feelings.

The same with me. It sometimes takes a fair amount of restraint to refrain from giving witty remarks.

that last line is, 'you'd know what I was talking about." As in, how my response to Wisp made sense- I was talking in kind to wisp. This is what you'd know, what I said that you would know.

So, "I knew you'd know."

And then, "you even knew I'd know."

So,

I imagine,
you even knew,
I knew,
you'd know,
what I was talking about [in my response to you].

It makes sense. Really.
Oh I need to meet more INTPs irl. We would get along so well.

I feel invisible, but I'm not sure what other people think. Often when I'm in a big group, even when I feel comfortable with most of the people, I feel like I'm not really there. I feel like I'm just observing the conversation and even if I do say something, no one will notice. I feel kinda like I'm looking through a one way mirror. I can observe what they all do, but none of them can see or hear me.
Precisely how I often feel.

That is not to be taken as an assumption that I'm exceptionally knowledgeable in those fields. If anything, I'm far from knowledgeable in some of them. For example, I've studied very little physics, yet I enjoy a discussion of theory behind a hypothetical devices capable of perpetual motion or a physics-centric explanation to teleportation.
That's me right there!

Nah, we just have a knack for chaos theory imo.

Scheming indeed! I always felt a little devious....

I remember sitting in a circle with my class in Year 9(when everyone was 15 years old). In order, we were asked to name 'the thing we were best at'. If I remember correctly, most people gave rather ordinary answers, such as a particular sport or activity. Now that I look back, I'm proud of the answer I gave: thinking! At the time I didn't recognise myself as being a detached observer, but that is definitely what I was, and always have been.

I'm very invisible too, but I can make the people listen if I actually do want to say something instead of just escaping and getting lost in my own mind thinking about psychology, physics, or whatever's going on around me while they're sitting there talking about the weather, what they just heard about this guy their dad's friend knows and who's doing what at that moment... I enjoy this state and I've been thinking a lot about it lately, more and more I try to figure out exactly what's going on in their mind that makes me so different from them, what chemicals are released in their brains that I don't get much of (or the other way around could be possible too, I might be the one experiencing some substance that, indeed, makes me think too much).

It only takes 6 - 8 beers and I can experience what I believe to be the same state of mind they apparently experience, so I know how they feel when they don't get to talk, it gets really annoying and you need to do something. It's not as bad as feeling forced to talk, but it feels like you just have to talk and be social or you get very restless... That's a good thing with alcohol, the bad thing is, as an INTP, you might not like all the retarded things you said the previous night when you wake up with a hangover.

I'm quite sure they view me as shy, except my friends of course, they know I'm just silent but come with the occasional bright idea that makes a better subject of conversation than their random stuff, as long as it's just one of my friends and me. If we're with their friends, I just sit silent because most of the time they would have no clue as to what I'm talking about and I'd end up looking like I'm in the wrong place. If I'm just "invisible" no one can tell I'm there, and I can study them and their topics and try to figure out what makes them tick... But I also wonder, should someone actually find out what the difference is and we could get an injection to make us "normal", would you take it? I personally would have to think about it for a very long time before deciding, but I don't think I'd do it...

I'm always amazed at how people don't seem to notice me... I use that to my advantage a lot, but it still always surprises me.

It doesn't help that I try to encourage that, though.

Just wondering. Is it just me or could it fairly be considered an INTP thing to think as though you're invisible?

Of course I don't mean literal invisibility, just the assumption that no one else notices you or what you do. Completely forgetting you have an outward appearance or any impact on the world around you.

That's true for me too. But it's also true that I somtimes wish people couldn't see me; like when I run into a pillar at work or fart when I stand up. :D

It's pretty funny, but recently after inhaling a substance ;) noticed that I can understand the social framework, but i cannot apply myself to the rules. I can think back with 20/20 vision, but during social interaction i tend to fail according to their rules. almost like ive been wired to be highly individual in the sense that I don't have a SINGLE thing to say. unless im drunk, than im kind of talkative...I dont think every INTP should smoke pot, but, it definitely helped me along for giving myself understanding of how others act. :phear:

my invisibility is social, not existential.
