Another INTP vs ISTP thread in process...

Yeah dude comes off as more ISTP but this part is interesting:

Because of their preference for “head” work, most INTPs don’t like to labor with their hands. Normally they will rely on the able assistance of others to put their conceptual leaps into more usable form, watching from the sidelines with satisfaction as that process plays itself out. But Spench has discovered that opportunities for creative endeavor are often deeply embedded in physical work, so his craftwork has allowed him to experience the DIY-style joys of following things through from beginning to end.

Is this related to Si at all?

It could. I mean who knows, he could be more INTP than I am. NFGeeks on YouTube interviewed a guy who clearly appears to be an INTP and he's a paid woodworker/handyman. But as he said "he takes on all the hard problems nobody else wants to".

Definitely not common though. Woodworking is really slow and take careful, careful attention to detail. And the output is ... a physical thing.

Carpenter and traveler... Jesus?

I don't think Jesus traveled all that much.

I thought the article was a bit strange... I don't understand the authors' intent for interviewing this guy, considering that he certainly does sound like a pretty typical ISTP and they didn't go into how he was typed. If they're trying to dispel stereotypes or highlight the diversity within the INTP stereotype, then in order to show that this guy goes against type... the audience would have to feel satisfied that he definitely is the type whose stereotypes he is supposed to be diverting from. But I did like the picture of the rainbow fruit on their homepage!

I really enjoyed that video of Tom on NF Geeks. What an adorable interview! His cartoons are so sweet. Video representations like that seem a lot more telling than a written interview when it comes to this sort of thing.

Agree with all the above. I like your avatar by the way, hmmm, when the Doctor took over her body, and discovered what taste, tasted like. Actually that actress is a big foodie, they worked that into some episodes (7o9 becoming a gourmet cook)

The doctor taking over 7 of 9 was pretty much the main reason to watch Voyager, IMHO! That episode was hilarious! I can only hope that a love of cheesecake and other food stuffs has served Jeri Ryan better than it has served me. *pats belly*

Michael French is an ISTP.

Why do people try to force people into preferences and call them exceptions?

Intp are more rare than people let on and a lot of these people are ISTP that do not want to have the "S" stigma.
