yes. brian eno's music for airports i listen to at work a lot and while writing. Also, john cage and steve reich. also, michael finnissy. philip glass if that's considered ambient, some pieces certainly. there are also natural white noise mp3s i listen to a lot, that is just like a river running or natural sounds, like someone went into the forest and plugged in a microphone and recorded for a half hour. yes.

When I seen his face, I thought his eyes were going to roll up into the back of his head.

He clearly has skill and I love the fact the music is almost... a sped up version of minimalist music, which I also have a fondness for....

Hm, I like Robert Rich. Does Ambient Black Metal count too?

I love ambient music, but outside of this forum I haven't really found anyone else who does. I'm happy to find these suggestions!

This music... this music is the perfect theme for the sanctuary of wisdom...

I was thinking about setting a place up in the middle of a remote desert where wisdom, theology, spiritual teachings, and alternative medicine could be studied. I sort of monastery separate from civilization. The thing is, I wanted it to be large enough underground that people could actually live and farm there, without having to go to civilization for anything.

Anyway, just a thought...

here is an interesting steve reich phase, one pianist playing two pianos slightly out of phase, so it goes slowly from melodic to disonant and back, etc.

That was amazing - thanks for sharing! I would have loved to see close-ups of his hands the entire time though...

I am not into ambient per se, but i do like Mellow. One might check out Buddha Bar or Cafe del Mar, in that regard

YouTube- Cafe del Mar The best of (Jose Padilla - Adios ayer)

Hey Blob, I listen to this genre as well. You might like two artist I enjoy...

The first artist is called Chiquor. Cafe Del Mar, Buddha Bar, and Sade are his inspiration. He is a private artist, and does not have any YouTube videos that I am aware of. Let me give you a link though...

The second I mentioned above and she is a little more mainstream. Her name is Sade. Very smooth and sultry voice.

I will second: Briano Eno, Vangelis, Robert Rich, The Orb, and the Buddha bar and Cafe del Mar compilations

and add in: Biosphere, Aphex Twin, Shpongle, and The Future Sound of London

I'd say pretty much all of those are absolute must-listens for any ambient fan.

"True" ambient music is amazing to me; a perpetual flow of sound and vision wherein the mind reveals itself to itself.

Ecka Lliena's Orb Night Album fills me with joy. The album is quite surreal and quite interesting. Lots of goofy chimes and drones.

Anything by Emeralds is amazing. Bee Mask is in the same vein and quite fun.

As for Dark Ambient well, that's my favorite genre. Tereth, Nidstang, Objekt4 and others like them make me happy.

Edit: Merzbau is my favorite person.

My ambient love: Labradford: Lake Speed

<object style="height: 344px; width: 425px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-0kvyr_4x9Q"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-0kvyr_4x9Q" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></object>

(Mark Nelson just got me hooked. I've heard so much before and after I heard that track back in 1999 I think, but never really got past that.)

It influented me bigtime though, my latest double album is available for free at: http://mrnils.net/downloads - Music is my therapy, I would be glad if you had the time to check it out (part II), but understand if you don't.

(And if the embeded link doesn't work, it's because this is my second post in a forum ever. My apologies)
