Actually, this forum was created by Ragnar, (a fellow INTP) and myself. It was created as an alternative to another INTP forum called INTP Central.

Last night, my two sons took the test (ISFJ and INTP). I just knew that my INTP son (about whom I've always had my suspicions) would head over to the Internet to get more information, so I happend upon this by helping him with some searching.

The timing is interesting. My wife and I celebrated our 19th anniversary a couple days ago.

Again, weird irony here. I dug a grave this morning for one of the four cats that shared our home, she was euthanized yesterday afternoon (kidney failure). Presently, we have one rather aged dog (mostly blind and deaf, and I swear her sense of smell is failing now too), the brother of the cat we buried this morning, and two much sprightlier cats, a mom and her son.

I have been a somewhat rabid or avid fan of role-playing games, strategy games, and solitaire games (such as Scrabble against a computer opponent) for most of my life. And I occasionally find the first-person shooter to be a relaxing way of relieving the stress of every day life. I also enjoy photography (though I haven't lately had the time for it), and have really liked, when I could find the time and money, to study martial arts (especially Tai Chi and Wing Chun Kung Fu).

For the past 15 years I have been a private tutor. I happen to live near a private school and the students there have always needed help. I also teach at a nearby university two nights every week.

I'm a member of one of the Internet's larger theology forums, and many members there are quite fascinated with MBTI. I was quickly introduced to various tests, which repeatedly returned INTP as my type. Judging from the overwhelming sense in which INTP profiles tend to describe even the more minute details of my life, it seems to be a fairly accurate outcome.

Four cats. Judging from their markings and the nature of their fur, I suspect them to each be a hybrid of Turkish Van and American Domestic Shorthair ancestry, and their names are Moses, Josiah, Enoch, and Kezia. I believe my home also plays residence to a frog, but it isn't so much a "pet" as an organism that we nourish as we take bets on how long it can conceivably survive without adverse interference. I've been backing the "immortality" option.

Online of course. Actually, I thought I was ISTP for several years. The first time I took the test there was a S/N question asking if you contemplate during walks through the woods or just enjoy the scenery. I didn't know how to answer so I asked my ISFJ friend. I told him, "Yes, I think about thinks...like how could I catch a squirrel if I had to, or if my hicking stick/spear will hold up if a bear attacks." Being a feeler he intuits a completely different way, so he told me I was a senser. So I went with ISTP. And since ISTP's are close in a lot of respects, it was easy to go along. I don't know how I missed the fact that I was actually INTP, But I'm on the right page now.

I don't know if it's INTP-ness, or general social ineptitude (or both), but the thing about myself that I find most annoying is that when I am in a social situation, I don't seem to communicate in the same way that others do. If I see a set-up, I can easily crack a joke, but a lot of what I have to say (and, more importantly, all of the things that I don't have to say) can easily be taken for criticism. Deeper in, my attempts to get to know people are often conducted interrogation-style, and all of my attempts to talk about myself are undermined by my genuine ignorance of the topic.

Found some MBTI test while surfing, scored INTJ, read the profile and disregarded the whole thing (I could hardly relate). Some time after that, stumbled upon an MBTI test again, scored again INTJ but this time read all the profiles. I realised I could relate with both INTP and ISTP, but slightly more with INTP. By the time, I learnt more about the personality types, functions, etc, and become more confident on my type.

I was taking a bunch of personality tests online. Each one came out with different results. I just started reading all of the descriptions and decided that I must be INTP. Another indicator was the fact that I dumped 2 projects just so that I could research MBTI and how it all works.

Hmm. Probably being so far ahead of my age group in regards to perspective and logic. It's also tough to be able to out-think one's parents at such an early age.

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?

I used to find it difficult that I knew nobody like me, but eventually became accustomed to the idea. I only found out now; however, that I am a statistic, ableit a low one. The thought thereof is both pleasing and displeasing. Displeasing because statistics remove from the concept of individuality, yet pleasing to know that I am not completely alone!

One of my friends on facebook had a "mytype" tester, and I took that... It told me I was INTP, and I looked at what it said about the defining features, and it PERFECTLY described me. Since then, every site I've looked at points to me being INTP.

It was listed on the typelogic site, and this forum had the most logical and straightforward site name, so I instantly liked it.

No, I just broke off a relationship about a month ago, it had turned rather nasty. It would be nice to find one that worked, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?

Isolation. During grade school, I hated it that my mind was so markedly different from everyone else's. If I didn't have the company of my siblings, I would have probably hid myself completely in my mental shell, not even revealing myself to people like me. I'm quite thankful that I'm somewhat more socially adept, since loneliness probably hits introverts the worst (think on it).

What is the most difficult part of being an INTP?
Probably the concept of having a body, feeling like you're there. This has been discussed to death in the forum but I can still reiterate. I have days when I think I'm just a puff of smoke; I'm 5-ish feet tall and a little over a hundred lbs. Not a big person. Combined with a complete absorption with things other than myself lends its' self to an interesting concept of space.

I've also experienced that, but in being taller than usual. I'm a girl and 5'7'' so I'm significantly taller than most of them. It gets even worse when I'm forced to go to some semiformal social event and end up wearing high heels, measuring up to 5'11".

Anyway, it sometimes feels like I'm a mere essence on stilts sometimes. Sometimes I'm very physically self aware, sometimes it feels like only my mind exists, hovering 5'7'' above the ground.
