Hello,

I joined the forum not too long ago and thought I might crawl out from my hiding place and say hi.

A few things about me:
I'm from southwestern Ontario, male, 25 years old, single and no desire to have children. No pets/animals and a job as engineering assistant as well as computer technician.
I found out I was an INTP when I took the MBTI for a general education class in college.
I found these forums while I was searching Google and joined a few days later.

At the moment I have interests in a language called lojban, replacing an engine in a car with a diesel, turbo charger gas turbine that burns wood and issues that may develop with climate change / energy depletion.

My field of study was electronics, I currently assist with designing high voltage electrical substations and backup IT administrator.

Who wants to know?
Welcome to the forums. Poke around with a long stick and see what crawls out. :) Languages aren't my thing, though.

Hey there.

Fellow engineer here, know a little about mechanical systems, circuit theory, assembly and some C++. Was supposed to build robots but now I think I am going to be building computer games.

Wood burning car? How does that work? Steam power?

I was thinking wood burning generator using a gas turbine.
The design uses a turbocharger. Video here http://www.nyethermodynamics.com/nt6/videos/NT6 Run-UP (Med-Res).wmv
In that design the compressor would blow in the air at anywhere from ~ 5 - 40 psi depending on the turbo, part of the air would go to support combustion and the rest would more or less go straight to the turbine inlet and the turbine would then provide power to run the compressor. The part these guys didn't build would of attached to the turbine's exhaust and had turbine from a turbo, compressor removed and a gearbox in its place with a generator/alternator attached.

Now I was thinking about making a gasifier and feeding the wood into it and feeding the gas from the gasifier into a combustion chamber with 3 zones of holes, primary, secondary and dilution as is done with gas/liquid fuels.

Thanks for the reception.
