Please correct me if I'm wrong. E/I and J/P is chosen through nurture and N/S and S/T is chosen through nature.

Is that right? I read it on the forum somewhere, but I may have mixed it up. Please correct me if you know.

Actually, psychologists currently think that "temprements" (characteristics which are mostly inherited) have to do with:

emotionality (encompassing reactions to: fear, distress, hate)
sociability (extraverted or introverted)
activity (how active you are...somewhat correlates to J/P)

these are known as the 3 temperments and are considered innate because the measurments they take of people at age 4 is what they end up being age 20, 50, 100...

Even if they dislike one of their traits and try to change it, they never change completely and always dislplay at least some of their innate temperments.

Wow so you're saying we are mostly born the way we are and that our temperament is influenced very little by our surroundings?

That seems to be the case. According to psychological studies of adopted children, personality is highly natural. There's sources, I don't want to bother about finding them. Wikipedia'll mention them I expect.

i would have to disagree.
i was EXTREMELY extroverted as a kid.
i still had my internal worlds, but i would always express them.
now, im really introverted...
i have a good feeling it has allot to do with my parents.. and allot of "social climbing"

however.. i have always been NTP
