I would love to come to North Carolina because this is where my friend comes from - Raleigh in fact. I would love to explore the place as I have pictures in my mind as to what it looks like. Btw, my friend collects stuff like crazy so her house is like a Santa's grotto all year round. Is this a North Carolina thing or is she just insane - I suspect the latter.

I'm about 30 minute drive west of Raleigh so it ought to be easy enough for you to get there. The south is known to have it's share of the crazies so your friend is not too out of the ordinary

I'm offering because I'm not fit to travel plus expense would be a problem. It seems like that's a concern for many. Otherwise I would recomend my sister's place as they just bought a B&B in Virginia. Talk about beautiful places to visit.....

wouldn't a more central location be best? At least central as far as north america is concerned? That way its not that people in the east have to travel little distance while western people like me and decaf have to take a 5 hour flight from coast to coast.

I don't even have a webcam (and actually no intention of buying one).

@Venngennce: What do you mean by "stand by tickets"? You mean tickets for an airplane? (Well, but anyhow, probably not from Europe, and actually, i am not that keen on flying into the US, you know, nice border procedures like confiscating my laptop and stuff )

Stand by tickets are basically where you fill in the empty seats, and yes on an airplane. I don't think you would even be able to get that discount as it would have to be Alaska airlines. Not sure if that goes to Europe

I've got Rockband.

I like the idea of having movies playing, a couple video game setups, an area for conversation and BS, lots of food, some board games, maybe bring a stack of interesting books and just let everybody go wild, flitting from thing to think as they desire. That way it stays low-key, and there's plenty of activities to do.

Long-distance meetups are hard, usually it's confined to people within a particular geographical region. Trying to make it encompass too many people from too far away will just not work, we live too far apart...

we should all just get world of warcraft and make an INTP guild. we could talk about how great it would be to have awesome gear and high level characters and how we're going to do a big raid "tomorrow" but never really get around to any of it.

lol, Well if you did I have other things as well. A big enough house and yard, Pool table, Dart board, Fooseball table, Ping Pong table, and a jacuzzi.

Downside is a live in North West washington so thats way up in the corner, probably far away for most.
