Get a frying pan,
heat it up,
tell him it's hot,
ask him if he's satisfied "just knowing" it.

I think I'm partly a "J" type; I once zapped myself when making a circuit then zapped myself again to make sure I hadn't imagined the first one.

i don't think thats being "J", thats wanting to know something based on experience, which sounds "P" to me (as i do shit like that myself)

As insane as that action sounds, I do it too. Honestly... how else are you to know that it wasn't a one time occurance?

lol. That cartoon is so funny. Yeah, if you were a J you would have just decided it was a bad idea. A P needs to make sure. *ow!* And once more. *Ow!* ...To be on the safe side... *Yeeeeoooowwwsizzle*

Okay. It may be a bad idea.

You should have countered with: That looks like a good pie on the counter, and I'm really hungry, and Mom will kill me if I touch it, and dinner's soon anyway, and I might burn my mouth if it's still hot, and it might be my favorite, and there might be no sugar in it, and...

Just keep going with your mighty ability to perceive supplementary information. xP Oh, I have a cruel mind... heheh.

Now that you mention it, that whole line about "Glad I know that, time to go" is very un-INTP. My brain works just like what you mentioned. The need to make a decision about the information is an INTJ trait, even if that decision is to leave the pie alone. The only way we would leave the pie alone is if we were not longer interested in the data we could collect by looking at it (assuming we had reason not to eat it).

Eating it is a method of information-gathering too. I need to...uh, know what it tastes like? *looks sheepish*

I long ago gave up on writing persuasive arguments about anything as English assignments. I can't even persuade myself. No way will I ever be able to persuade anyone else. I'd just bombard them with everything they never wanted to know about the topic. So I write stories instead. I'm decent enough at it, so it turns out alright.

Woah! Hold on. I hope nobody assumed I was the one who drew that. The image is a link, click on it. That is from the webcomic xkcd, which all of you should read. I didn't explicitly say it wasn't mine because I sort of assumed everyone here already knew about it, at least enough to recognize the style.

Oh, now that’s why mum always said not to post self demeaning images on the net.

Wait, what are you saying? demeaning? as in shameful?

*looks around self-consciously* what did I do wrong?! It wasn't me mum, I swear! :phear:

I think he was talking about himself. But it doesn't really make sense either way.

I edited an xkcd cartoon that portrays me zapping myself in a continuous cycle, evidently because I'm too stupid to give up on my curiosity. It occurs to me that now that it has been copied off the INTPforum site there is a small potential for that image to haunt me in the future. e.g. I run for a political position and somebody, somehow manages to find that image, recognise me as Cognisant and use it to portray me as stupid. Justifiably in this case because I did create the cartoon and post it on the net which is admittedly a pretty silly thing to do.

Well that sucked all the humor out of my joke.
