Underneath your bed.
So I have to write a research paper for my Advanced Composition class about a crisis in either our society (referring to America) or the world. Before I pick a topic to write about I would like to hear from some similar minded folks.

What, in your opinion, is the biggest most impeding problem with the world and explain why.

Lost in my thoughts
Off the top of my head, sustainable development (or the lack thereof) is a pretty pressing topic - and I'm not just talking about environmental sustainability, either (although that's a pretty major part). Sustainable development can really encompass a lot of things (great for writing a paper on!) - not enough/ineffective foreign aid, keeping third-world countries in debt, not thinking through development, being patronizing to third-world countries, privatization of natural resources, energy/food security, corporate social responsibility...there's a lot that I think could be worked on in terms of sustainable development, and definitely quite a bit to write a paper on, I think.
