Default any good PC games?

I'm looking for a good PC game to download...one that's first person adventure / simulation / action or w/e preferably. I don't care if it's free- or shareware. I'd love to hear some good titles before I go hunting. Thanks!

If you could call Dwarf Fortress a simulation...Very primitive graphics, but oh god, anything can happen. A N Y T H I N G, so long as it menaces with spikes. There was a thread on the forums where a player wanted input on engineering a device to kill mermen while retaining and collecting their remains, another guy rerouted a river into hell, but only after it flows throughout his cavernous fortress. Another fort had a blacksmith that lost his arm to a giant before the game started. It was in his record.

Mount & Blade is a great medieval action game. Very fluid fighting, and refreshingly lacking in fantasy cliche.

Knytt

"Knytt sets you in an alien landscape as the titular hero, seeking pieces of your broken spaceship so that you can return home. It is a lonely world, full of mysterious creatures and people whom you cannot interact with, forcing you to imagine what their lives are like, or what their purpose is. All of Nifflas's games are imbued with an incredible atmosphere (and a certain longing), but this is arguably his strongest."

It's probably my favorite freeware game. It's beautiful in its simplicity.

The Academy helps introduce the complexities of the game, and let me assure you... the game is complex. I'm only just getting into it, and I haven't read enough to consider myself ready to join a game yet.

Bioshock or the Knights of the Old Republic.

Or you could download Project64, and use it to play Ocarina of Time...

If you're looking for something mindless, you could try Maplestory. It's really easy (for the most part) but for some reason I find it rather enjoyable, even relaxing. The good thing about it is that you never run out of things to do, and it's free.

My friend plays Ragnarok, which you have to pay for.

If you have patience and like atmospheric games, music and literature, you should try to hunt down a game called "Pathologic", developed by a Russian studio called Icepick Lodge.

The graphics look like something out from a late Playstation or early Playstation 2 era game, but it doesn't matter, because the game is a brilliant exercise in atmosphere.

The same studio also developed a game called "Tension", in Russian, but it's going to be released in the States as "The Void". Check some videos on youtube as Tension/The Void... I really have no idea what the game is about, but the videos look fun.

What we need is more original games, I'm really growing tired of the same derivative games time and again. Right now the only game I've been playing for a while is Far Cry 2... I know many people didn't like it, but I actually like it for the reasons they didn't... plus, I love African landscapes and I find the whole mercenary idea kinda romantic in its raw savagery.

I have also been waiting for a game called "limbo" for quite some time, but everything seems to point it has gone vaporware:
