Found out about this a couple weeks ago. Tried it when it launched. It wasn't able to do anything with any of my queries. It's kind of simple. It's not really a "search engine" so much as online calculator and desk reference.

BTW, legally it's not a search engine but a 'Service'. That has some implications. fyi(fyi=for your information)

They appear to be having technical difficulties; the site was all jumbled up and not functioning.

Geeks rule the world and the internet is the source of our power.
Internet browsers are the highly contested "high ground" on the internet. So yes, geeky is an appropriate description. |

Awesome, I just tried my favourite Conan quote: http://www40.wolframalpha.com/input/...est+in+life%3F
To add something worthwhile to this thread, Microsoft just launched their new search engine www.bing.com and they got about 6% market share in a surprisingly short amount of time. Of course I tried it out and it seems to be okay but so far I see no reason to use Bing instead of Google. Although we should be glad that there is now at least some real competition in the search engine market.

I have found it a very nice tool. I work at both a high school and a university, and, at the high school especially, I can use this to help my students. The fact is, you can type in just about any math equation and it will graph it, solve it, provide extra information about it, etc. You can type in a chemical name and get volumes of useful data.
Very, very nice. I look forward to this having a much larger database. Dave |
