Default What has the forum become, indeed

It seems to have suddenly declined significantly in terms of quality.

Well all of the interesting topics have been discussed already. I think most of us feel that we need to fill the gap until another productive and interesting topic can come up. Don't worry it will come.

O, I'd rather burn in hell than apologize mwhuahahah

I'm shocked that no one has pointed out the irony of this post.

Lightbulb Re: What has the forum become?

It kinda amuses me to see how everyone seems to fail and can't see the relation between himself and the state of the forum. I spoke to so many people here, perhaps more than everyone else in here and far too often something I heard something like "Board, uh, that's just bad. And it became so much worse since I got here." Hilariously enough, it doesn't even matter how long someone is here. Two weeks, two months or two years - Forum is on decline!!1.
But the worst part is, as I asked those people what they wanted to do against that "demise". And in this moment I could almost sense how they were staring at their monitors in disbelief, trying to comprehend what that crazy German guy just wrote. That's right - they never even thought of changing something for the better. Well, nothing except for "let's ban everyone I dislike"...
It seems that the whole concept of doing-instead-of-complaining seems so mind-boggling and overwhelmingly alien for the average INTP that it makes you wonder how they get anything done. Also, it leads to the weird implication that they enjoy the suffering and the squirming in agony. But that's only secondary.

And let's face it - a good forum needs work. Lots of work. If you are trying to write a good posting, it mostly takes a lot of time because it's maybe very long, you do the research very thoroughly or you are just a slow writer. Some people even have the problem that they can't even finish a sentence because they get always distra
Or someone ninjas you which can be quite annoying, I guess that is something we all know too well.
And when you create a new thread you always have the risk that it gets either gets completely ignored or that someone just vomits in there without reading - or worse - without understanding it. Just look how many threads are out there which no one really understood (sometimes including the author) or which got derailed with the very first posting.
Being a good writer requires - you guessed it - hard work, practice and frustration-resistence.

"So", you may ask. "What was this snarky and after all not very funny posting about?"
Don't expect that things just happen. It's awkward that I even have to write that down, I feel bad about that.
If you want that things change, change them - if not, you don't have a right to complain whatsoever.
After all, the board is not an anthropomorphic personification or something like that, which simply means you are the forum and you are at least partially responsible for its state.

Not my point snowqueen; I simply found it interesting how the type expressed itself so clearly - in a forum of Passive grumblers a J comes forth and changes the world....or dies trying.

Oh I see - thanks for explaining. Is Anthile a self-confessed INFJ then? They are my favourite type after INTP so it's interesting that I leapt to his/her defence!

Anthile:
I know those arguments of yours and with a lot i would agree.
When one wants the forum to be at a certain niveau and/or has a certain atmosphere, one has to do something about it.
The problems start though at the moment where not everyone wants the same niveau/atmosphere.
Since i think that ultimately exerting authority and forcing people to adhere to your chosen atmospere is futile, a good place of communcation and exchange of ideas should just offer many niches, many half-seperate places where people can choose the form of communication they and their communication-partners there want to follow.
The only 'rule' then would have to be, to respect the niches, the sperate places of other people and their chosen atmosphere in there (relative to the places, not the people thouhg, because one can of course choose to want one atmosphere in one place and a completely different in another place).

I think it's good that we have 'hangout' parts and 'serious' parts in the forum.
Other than that, what can you do? Isn't it a fact of life, that, the greater the number of participants, the lower the quality? Internet forums, social settings... all the same.

And, I agree, Anthile, that quality went downhill after my joining!

I haven't been around long enough to tell if it is on a 'decline' or not. I think people make of things what they will. Try posting interesting material or the like if you don't like current discussions. You can change how things progress.

Yeah this forum misses some of the people who weren't of the emo-teen variety. No offense to you emo-teens, you have your place here, but the threads go downhill when you turn it into a creative writing assignment. Needs moar dwags, ff, kaedri and yeayea type posters. Face is just here to bully around those who came here to escape bullying. He would be entertaining if so many didn't fall into his traps so easily.

This place could have promise, but needs more 'lite posters to show up and stick around.

I'd like to see some more scientific and futuristic threads. More analytical discussion over the emotional aspects of being an INTP. Granted it is important; but it feel like this forum revolves around it sometimes. I still love this forum though.

I have no idea "what has the forum become, indeed", because I wasn't here (so it can't be my fault!) but now that I am here, it can only get better, right?

So all you nay sayers and grumblers (you know who you are) can stop it... This forum shall henceforth be overflowing with an abundance of wit and intelligent banter for I have arrived.

BTW, thanks for the warm welcome!

Proof? Proof is necessary for the empirical validation of a hypothesis. I, as a being in contact with the a priori knowledge of the eternal soul (which you have forgotten by anamnesis), need no empirical ''proof''. My posts are the result of perfect and infallible deduction regarding the essential structure of reality.

Additionally, reason is the whore of the will. As a master, facts and induction are only useful in so far as they serve my greater-- other than rational-- purpose.

What are you trying to say? It should be obvious to all (as it certainly is to me) that many years of arduous research have yielded the following observation:

INTP = Incredibly Nice Thoughtful Person

So, as the saying goes, "if the glove fits..."
