So this summer I am traveling to Germany. My dad insists that I must bring a camera along and take as many photos as humanly possible. However, I do not like taking pictures unless it is in an artistic sense. I have a very good long term memory, so I dont need photos to stimulate these memories.
I dont know I guess I was just wondering if other Intps feel the same way about taking pictures. |

I dislike when people ask to take a picture in commom ocasions. It turns pictures into a banal thing. I see pictures as memories of special moments.
In your case I think your dad just wants to see everything from your travel - know the places you've been to etc. Take pictures of what you think your dad would like to see - sculptures, places idk - if that shall make him happy. Also take pictures of what you consider important, what you'd like to remember when you're older idk. Well that's what I'd do. Gute reise, auf wiedersehen. |

I dislike getting my picture taken but I don't mind pictures in general. When I travel or am doing something I want to tell someone about later I take pictures. Visual aids to tend keep people interested in my otherwise "boring" commentary. I wish I knew more complex minded people..
Agreed. |

I like taking pictures. Took a few today. Not sure if INTPs(or others) like these, as they are simple.

I wasn't exactly sure what I was doing, just wanted to take a few pictures. When I look at them now, and how you see them..hmm, yes, life, I think that was what I tried to find.

I used to think that. Now, as I'm older, I find that my memory isn't as good as I conceitedly thought when I was younger (describing my younger self here, not making a comment about you). After 45 years there are a lot of memories and your brain simply won't hold it all, and what it does hold changes.
Now I take pictures of everything, I'm continually snapping. I have my computer take automatic pictures of my kid and me as we're working on them, and I take movies and audio streams. So far I've got 3.5 TB of data stretching back 10 years, with the last two with extensive data. Every moment is precious, I have audio clips of my kid that I wouldn't trade for anything. We spent a few months in Germany for work, and some of my most wonderful pictures are from that time. Get a camera and take at least 100 pictures every day - don't try and take good ones, try and take bad ones, but take them. |

@Athideus: Someone who feels distant?
Anyways, I get what you're saying stealthy donut... But making pictures is really fun. I take lots of pictures. Pictures are always better than my memory. I used to think I had a photographic memory as well, but really, nothing beats pictures. I make pictures of landscapes, houses, trees, pets, animals, occasionally people... I try to make most of them with a nice composition and lighting as well, so I get stylish and artistic, but also 'functional' pictures of my life.
