Default How to find your tritype?

Should more importance be given to reading the individual description (863 is xxx & 683 is bbb, it seems like I am more bbb than xxx) or by assessing the respective values of all 3 types (I resonate more with 6 then 8 followed by 3, therefore I am 683)? Thank you. I am still an amateur and will appreciate all advice.

Rotate three times in rapid succession on the spot, perform three star-jumps, three squats and then do a barrel roll.

Alternatively, just google 'HOW2TRITYPE PLZ' and then click one of the top results.

IDK about tritype. Seems a bit too... tri hard.

GUFFAW!

less bookish thinking. understand what tritype is first. how you strategize within different aspects of life. create your own idea of what those aspects are (gut, heart, head). i've superficially discussed mine in a recent thread. try to understand the abstract essence of strategies for each: its introversion or internalisation (451), extroversion or confrontation (278) and something more ambiguous (369) - its hard to find good language for all of those. using this understanding, begin to analyse how you actually strategize yourself. dont compare yourself to fictive profiles. you are you.

They can both shed light on things.

I think it would depend on you individually - do you tend to score significantly higher in a single type, or are the types in your tritype quite close together?

They're also going to be different descriptions in nature - tritype being like a compound of your basic type, so tritype may seem more accurate but also more complex in nature.

i think it requires deep holistic introspection to attain clarity about the core fear of your personal identity construct, which is your main or true E type. this requires inquiry. stephen wolinsky talks about this kind of inquiry. what bad would happen, if you didn't do, what you try to do? what do you hope to avoid or attain? how would you be different, if you were not preoccupied like this? what fears or insecurities or confusion would come up immediately? the order of your other two preferences is mostly meaningless and probably entirely dynamic, depending on personal development or circumstance. i think of tritype as a starting point that limits the options for deeper inquiry.

I can't decide whether the enneagram is deceptively deep or the product of extensive refinement in an attempt to retain a modicum of relevance (wings, variants and tritypes).

Is there any scientific basis for the model, or is it all mystical horseshit?

I originally thought the latter, but then I attended a seminar in which the theory was explored in greater depth. I can't remember specifics (lolNi), but I do recall coming out with a new appreciation for the theory.

I'd be interested in figuring out my own tritype tbh. I don't resemble the stereotypical 5 in some ways. I assume this is because the descriptions are quite clearly levelled at Ti dominants, but perhaps there is more going on.

I'm a 5w4 btw. Probably. Could be 5w6.

>_>

[EDIT] LOL-ed at image.

Tritype definitely seems more detailed and accurate. I'm quite certain about the first digit (and tend to score higher on that while the other two have similar scores); it's the last two I'm unsure of. I've actually come to a conclusion months ago, but recently am having second thoughts. Back then, I resonated more with 548 (based on the 548/584 descriptions). Recently, I feel like I deviate more to 8 than 4 (individually). However, type 5's growth is towards 8, so I'm wondering if it has anything to do with that.

Interesting.

Eh. Preoccupied with?

I'm not sure how to answer most of your questions as they are quite vague.

I do agree that the order of the last two probably isn't as important as knowing the first number.

Do you think there may me a difference between head > heart > gut > head, such as 548, and head > gut > heart > head, such as 584, that could apply globally?

I think my 6 and 9 typings reinforce each other because they are integration/disintegration points of each other. So type 4 may be just as high. However I think type 9 is still the strongest influence.
