Default Speech development while younger

We're any of you late bloomers when it came to saying your first words?

My mother said I started talking a few months before kindergarten and when I went to kindergarten I didn't really talk, so they decided to put me into a speech therapy program. Is this something common for people like us?

I just asked my mom..

She said I was calling for "Da-Da" by 9 months, calling for both of them by 10 months, using full sentences by the age of 3 , and I have never had trouble using my gob ever since.

Apparently I took forever to start talking but once I started I wouldn't shut the fuck up.

I kind of miss very-young-child-Me. That kid would talk to everyone and everyone loved the shit out of him. He would walk up to complete strangers and convince them to give him their food. I wish I still had that level of charisma and those big of balls.

I didn't talk much at all until I was two, but then started in full sentences. I was also late to begin reading for similar reasons. I was a very disengaged child.

No, quite the opposite actually. Even though I don't know the exact age I began talking my parents and bascically everyone that knew me as a toddler has told me that I began to speak very early(in relation to other kids around me). Not only that but at around the age of four or five people kept telling my parents that I spoke like an adult, so they ended up placing me in daycare with the sole pourpose of having me talk more like I have shit in my mouth...I mean.....like a little kid.

Bare in mind that my mother has been known to exaggerate. She claims people would look at me and gasp, "that baby's talking!" I'm taking it with a pinch of salt and assuming no delay.

Not that it makes a difference. My eldest was a little late starting, and he doesn't shut up now and is doing quite well compared to his peers in school.

I was on the early side of the spectrum.

I imagine this might relate to attachment patterns in early childhood and delayed speech might be associated with the INTP's dismissive-avoidant skew. Not sure there's a documented connection though, but then again I haven't searched at all.

my parents say i wouldnt sit still for more than 3 seconds and never paid an iota of attention while being talked to. i was always running around so it took me ages to pick up on words and start talking

edit: relevant tangent- also took me ages to start recognizing my parents as more special than other people lol. whenever we went out to places i would run away as soon as they put me down and sit/settle with random families or kids if i found them interesting or wanted their food. this has always weirded my parents out bc i never seemed worried about their absence. compare this to my siblings who'd burst into tears as soon as mom is out of sight
